well thank you wx for helping me. "True" Patriot..yes I would agree that you are not a "True" Patriot IF you find nothing wrong with what they HAVE DONE!!!!!!! and if you find NOTHING wrong with the message they are sending the impressionable youth of this Country!

You have managed to simplify my statements into "liking" or "not liking" the Dixie Chicks. They are just another carrier of distorted perceptions of what is acceptable behavior in our society.

If I had my last dollar to bet..I would bet on Natalie being 100% behind abortion at anytime, because its her body after all, and she has rights!!!!

I think its time for her to make a real statement and spread eagle for Penthouse. What do you think?

:x Since you also know my position on that should I do the same j???

Impressionable children get the "impression" that it is okay to express their views.

Why don't you just put a sock in it for once?!

Children have EVERY right to be born AND to express their views. They are the adults of tomorrow. Freedom of expression is not soley heaped upon the adults.

Wow, I didn't expect this thread to go as far as it has. My main point was, I'm sure most (if not all) of you like Bruce Springsteen and his music. But would y'all go so far as to boycott his music? Or never buy another one of his albums? Even if he is your favorite artist?

That's why I wouldn't boycot the Chicks and that's why I'll keep listening to their music. They make good music and that is all that matters to me! Those of you who complain that they think their opinion matters more than yours... well...you are making it that way! You put so much stock in to what they say because you refuse to let the subject drop!

Anyway...I'm done for now...

I'm mostly in a happy place until I am told that I am not American for voicing my opinion! You're absolutely correct that I will not change my mind NOR will I be changing anyone else's anytime soon.

That's the truth!

It would depend on what it is that they have done/said, etc. If it makes ME feel better about doing so, then I shall.

Noone is complaining that the Chicks or Brucie baby's opinion matters more than mine. My complaint is they are using their fame to make their point. IMO they should just "put a sock in it for once" and live the American way like all us little people have to. They should use their voices to cure AIDS or feed the hungry.

That's kind of how I looked at Charleton Heston all of those years.

You are right about Charlton Heston Stephanie. I believe George Clooney spoke out against him recently and was raked over the coals for doing so.

I guess the rakes will be coming out now again!

But seriously, it's called power and anyone that has a name and or MONEY can do alot of influencing. If any of us had that I'm sure that we would use it to further causes that are near and dear to our heart.

I am a patriot. I support the troops, the President, and I put my differences about policy away so we could go in and liberate the people of Iraq. But now...if I support the Dixie Chicks I am not a true patriot?

I have to respectfully disagree j. I find that statement to be so uninclusive it makes me shudder, but you are entitled to my opinion.

Back to the original topic, if you are to be fair and you are boycotting the Chicks, then you should boycott Springsteen as well. Oh, and Roseanne Cash, and Emmylou Harris, who have spoken out in favor of the Chicks.

Next time, they can comb their hair and get some clothes on before they get on a magazine. :)
