For all the s2k domestic goddesses..a HOME drycleaning unit!
Hey girls! We're looking at purchasing this really incredible drying center for our home and wondered if any of you own one, or know someone who does that can kinda review the item for us,,,its a MAYTAG NEPTUNE drying center which is a combination of a 7 cubic ft dryer below with a drycleaning cabinet above, to handle freshening and drying of your dry clean only items...it looks simply amazing, and we are considering purchasing one tonight, but have found very little review on it...one good and one bad...this item is less than 2 years new...I would LOVE any input on this product, and as quickly as possible, as we have just moved into a new house and its gas hook up only for a dryer, and we have an electric one and am going nuts without use of a dryer, so buying is imminent...and we'd like to feel confident that this is a good unit to buy, considering the price is higher than your ordinary dryer...keeping in mind we spend a minimum of 60.00 a month on drycleaning...THANKS for any input...even if you've just seen it in a store, I welcome your thoughts!

Furry, I looked into that dryer but opted not to purchase it. I was told it takes a while for the clothes to dry in the top part. I just settled on the regular Neptune dryer. My dryer is gas also...and i absolutely love it. I'll never go back to an electric dryer. My clothes have never come out smelling burnt like they have in an electric dryer. We've had our Neptune washer and dryer close to a year now with (knock on wood) no problems.

Kath...thanks for the input. Were there any other reasons, other than 5 hr dry "freshening" time for the top unit, why you decided to not purchase it? I think I can live with the 5 hr top dry time, but can my gas bill live with it? lol Since dry cleaning can be written off as an expense, I wonder if the unit can also be written off? Just a thought...I have one on hold at Lowes, and we are deciding on it by tonight...I am going crazy with no dryer...
Thanks for the info on gas drying tho...I have never used one, and didn't even realize there was a positive difference... :O)
I have the Maytag "Atlantis" washer and absolutely love it ! I think Atlantis preceeded the Neptune...Anyway, Maytag makes a wonderful washer/dryer unit...but we also bought their side by side fridge and have had to replace computer chips twice in it..all in the first 6 months of ownership...their repair man actually told me that Maytag is much better in the washer/ dryer dept. then other appliances...
In my house in FL, yeafs ago, we put in a Maytag dishwasher that was top of the line at the time, and it was great...Except for the fridge, I think they make great stuff!

A lot less shrinkage with cold water...lolol (Seinfeld inside joke)
I was in the pool!!!!
Is "domestic goddess" politically correct for housewife?
Too bad cold water shrinkage doesnt work for women or i'd be taking cold baths three or four times a day.

I was confused about the comment regarding hangers. You cant use metal ones and plastic ones may warp? What other kinds are there?

And as if you need additional incentives, it's one of Oprah's favorite things for 2004!!

Well, I just bought it and I brought it home in my SUV...with both back thingys opened and tied with rope...hee hee...I can't wait for hubby to hook it up tonight.
As for the hangers, it comes with 4 hangers, special hangers and I believe I'll see if I can order more from Maytag....
You guys...I think this is going to be the coolest thing ever, and I am going to ENJOY doing laundry for once....On my way to go pick up 50.00 worth of drycleaning from the cleaners...I hope to never have to say that again! lol
I'll let ya'll know how it works...
I'm sooo excited!
