My husband is the city manager of Boynton Beach. The annual employee dinner is always planned around a theme, such as "American Pride" or "Palm Beach Luau." People are encouraged to dress accordingly. This year's event, held two weeks ago at a local, extremely "fine dining" type of restaurant, was themed "Black and White."
I really wanted to wear something DIFFERENT than just a basic black cocktail dress. After thinking about some of the obvious (referee shirts or penguin costumes) and ruling out something wacky like a nun's habit or priest's robes (so as not to offend), I had a brainstorm the morning of the party.
I hit the jackpot at the vintage rack at a local dress store because my original of nearly 32 years is packed away in the dense recesses of our storage unit. (Kurt just had to pull his outfit out of his closet.)
We were the most dinstictively dressed couple that evening -- and had a blast!
