Bring him home--very appropriate

Was listening to "LES MISERABLES" toay, and the words of "Bring HIM HOME" were very touching, and profound, especially in view of the Iraq war. I'd like to dedicate it to all of our young people serving over there, and my most earnest wish is that they are all "Brought Home" alive and well.

Agreed. This was not a political statement--I was just thinking about our young people overseas, as someone who's been in that situation.

Been there too...30+ years ago.

The difference? No one seemed to WANT us, home or not. Many of us still feel that, even after all this time.

I was not one of the people who felt that way, nor do I feel that way now. Whatever one's political orientation, we must support our people over there and bring them back alive.

The reason I started this thread was that I was over the house of my friends, Chuck and Judy. Chuck is an Air Force 'Nam vet, and his daughter, Jennifer, is an Airman First Class in Iraq. She's coming home next week after a deployment, and we were excited that she has a chance to see her parents. I was a Desert Storm vet, in 1991. I know the Vietnam Vets had a bad time of it from opposition in this country. At that time, I was approximately 12-14 years old, but NEVER felt that we could in any way abandon our service people, no matter what was politically expedient. I feel that way now, did then, and always will. So, when we heard this song from Les Mis, we all were in tears!!

Absolutely - bring them home alive and well! NEVER forget what happened with our Vietnam Vets and never allow it to happen again.

I think that we really don't have to worry about that happening to our Iraqi War vets. Both the Vietnam War and this war has been hotly contested, but everyone seems to believe that this time our men and women are doing their jobs and we are VERY proud of them.

That's horrible and I hope just isolated. I know from everyone I've talked to around here, they are VERY supportive of the troops now and understand and regret the way our Vietnam Vets had been handled.

It was awful what was done to our Vietnam Veterans. I was born in 1962, so I was also young, but I wore (and still keep in my jewelry box) a MIA bracelet of a LT. who never came back home. I prayed for him on a regular basis during that war and for a while after. Thank you Bill for your service to our country.
