The largest catfish I've witnessed was 39 inches long, but we didn't have scales to weigh it. It was a female that had been on the bed and was half starved. It took two men to carry it. Our friends caught it near Shell Island on the Withlacoochee river. I can't imagine how much her normal weight would have been.

My uncle caught a 57lb. Blue cat, it was as long as me. Got a friend who caught a 75 pounder, but I did not see it.

I heard about this fish, too, on the news and that it's probably at least 25 years-old and will be sent to an aquarium in Kansas City, MO! :)

:( Poor fish. That's sad. He must have been traumatized by the move and it killed him.
