A tropical wave rolled off the COA,
Forecasters said conditions were right,
The water was warm,
The shear was light,
The stage was set for a tropical storm,
And as predicted Isabel was born,
Pushed by the trade winds with a ridge to her north,
Relentlessly westward forward she plowed forth.
Stronger and stronger she grew by the day,
There was a threat to land we heard forecasters say.
Then we were told what we feared the most,
Isabel was headed for the Carolina Coast.
She came ashore on a Thursday right around noon,
Her powerful winds singing a horrible tune,
She then plowed into Virginia with all of her might,
Leaving millions in her path without power and light.
She died in Ohio on a Friday afternoon,
Those in her path will not forget her soon.
