FTP server on the NHC site

#1 Postby Brent » Fri May 27, 2005 11:38 am

I've been trying to get into the Atlantic up to 1994 and the browser locks everytime. I've already set it to read Passive FTP. Back in August before this same computer crashed, I was able to get in. Ugh... how are you folks able to get into it?

I just follow the directions, but last year my computer wasn't able to. Maybe it's different for each computer?

Is this where you're trying to FTP?

ftp://ftp.nhc.noaa.gov/pub/storm_archives/atlantic/

Yes. I click it(like any other link) and it never does anything, and then as soon as you try to do anything else, it locks up and stops responding and you have to Ctrl-Alt-Del to get rid of it.

Not knowing your browser flavor makes it tough to pinpoint. I've successfully logged in with FFv1.0.4 and IE6.

You might try an FTP client and see if that helps. Best free, small, cheapie FTP (IMO) is WS_FTP Lite.

http://www.softwareeshop.com/utilities/WSFTP_LE_508.htm

You can navigate to TPC/NHC's ftp server and see if that works for you.

Good luck
