I moved at work today!

Our company remodeled another part of the building and moved two departments, including mine, into it. Not sure I like it. The building is a former factory and they did a nice job of re-using it. I think that the architect who designed it is shooting for an award though. The area is probably 300 feet long and 100 feet wide. It's all open now like a gymnasium - with the roof trusses exposed. The walls of the cubicles are translucent plastic and only 3 1/2 feet high, so there's no privacy at all. It's going to be noisy and everyone will hear everyone else's business.
I liked it better where we were. The cubicle walls were 5 1/2 feet high and were solid and covered with fabric. Now I can't pretend to not hear my boss anymore. He's right next to me, and as I sit at my work station, I'm looking right at him. I think that it's time to invest in some headphones.

You could say that my desk is cluttered, but I know where to find everything. My boss's desk is way more cluttered. I'm going to post a new thread about some rules of thumb for at work, that I've learned over the years.
