We haven't had this much lightning in a long time - it's been quite
active this afternoon. Fortunately, no lives were lost in this incident.

It's now rained 111 times today as much as the rest of May combined.

.02 * 111 = 2.22

They need you at the Wal-Mart in Gulfport because I was there during the height of the storm and the management did nothing to inform the shoppers (which I call "Wallies" which includes myself, since I was one of them). After the lightening hit the roof and sparks rained down on the cereal aisle and the lights blacked out for a nano second no annoucement was made over the intercom by the Wal-Mart heirarchy... Where were you Josephine? Would Sam Walton have wanted it this way? I think they should have you travel from store to store and train associates on Wal-Mart weather etiquette! I'm going as high as I have to see that they get you in there to get the job done! I'll write letters, make phone calls, whatever it takes! I've got your back Wal-Mart weather woman! :lol:

I am sad to report that the house that was struck by lightning is
a total loss. Fortunately no lives were lost. The family that lives
there was out of town when this happened, so they've got to travel
back from California to the remains of their home. Very sad for them.

I drove by the burnt out remains today. Sadly, a total loss. All this money we pay to the Diamonhead fire protection district and they could not save the house. My house is considerably futher from the fire station so it would be safe to assume that there would be no chance to save mine in the event of a fire. Your picture made the Sunherald today.....MGC

when they flew recon out to hurricane adrian was that the first time in history that they flew into a pac. storm?????????????

No... they've flown into storms that threatened Mexico and the Baja California before.

I'll be there eventually. Life has been really busy lately (last 6 months). Finally it is starting to settle down.

As someone who has had a house fire, I know how tough it is. We had $170,000 in damage to home and contents back in Sept. 2003.

A lot of whether or not your house survives a fire depends upon how well your house is built. We have rock-wool insulation in our house...and it is well sealed. That means it ran out of air very quickly and just smoldered. Had our house been older...and not sheet-rocked/rock wool insulated...it would have been an inferno. As it was...we needed to gut it completely because of smoke damage.
