Goodbye Political Forum

Goodbye Political Forum
Well I can't argue with the reasons the administration posted for the removal of the political forum. It has been an interesting series of posts, ideas, and discussion. Sometimes it got rabid, but I saw and continue to see a healthy community at storm2k. Since the forum is going to be removed I see this as the proper place to say thanks and goodbye to the political debates. During the off season I almost forgot that this is a weather forum. Hopefully there will be a political board somewhere that has as good an administration and general friendliness among members, but I doubt such a place exists.
Ah well, it was good (most of the time) while it lasted. I learned a lot from the more informed posters and a good deal about holding one's tongue from those who hold principles that diverge from my own.

I personally enjoyed the debates in the political forum, I agree s2k is all about "good moral" but thats why you had its own forum....even stated not for the waek hearted. Everyone will now just go post in the "off topic" forum and polute that....I know it dont matter what i think, but i say keep it....no one has to go in there if they dont want to

Mike - I was one of the weak hearted members. I rarely poked my mouse in there but when I did, it was for a necessary reply. Usually a topic that started right here in OT and got moved to the PA. LOL
Anyway, I hope OT doesn't become polluted......not my/your/our beloved OT S2K Forum. We need to keep this forum going. On other boards, who shall remain nameless, we fought long and hard for an OT Forum. Let's just make sure it doesn't happen here. But honestly, I don't think it will. There's a good vibe here on OT, respect for others 99.9% of the time and it will remain that way, I predict.

It all started in the Garden of Eden Mike.....LOL
There's always that one troublemaker in life.....at least we know it, can see it when it happens. Then deal with it.
Can I whisper one final PA type comment before that forum is laid to rest? Oh please? I wish a different candidate had won the election. That is something I've wanted to say 'over there' but never had the guts to.

Mary! How could you? OMG. lol - just joking!
I will miss the PA, but I do understand the reasoning. I've had to avoid it or risk getting banned!

You are right, Mike. It is a private place to debate. Hey, one of my favorite sparring partners was gtalum. We didn't see eye to eye on quite a few things, but he was always one that would make me sit back and THINK. I didn't dismiss him out-of-hand. lol - he could definitely give a girl a run for her money! It was fun, I enjoyed it. And I will miss that.

There are more than a fair amount of politically-oriented blog sites out there, where people can state their case/rant and rave/ etc. to their heart's content.
Frankly, as a Mod, I have grown weary of "monitoring the kindergarten playground"; PM this one, delete that one, move this thread for consultation, what-have-you.
Our primary purpose is as a WEATHER board, thank you...it is high time we closed that Forum.

Being that the forum is PRIVATELY OWNED, I think that the owners have every right to make whatever decision that want to make about their website.
You do have a choice - either accept it or not and do something about it.
Miss Mary, etc. I PROMISE YOU that those idiots that want to ruin it for those of us here in the Off Topic will not last long. Kindergarden is out.

I'm just replying back to you. You asked a question - the same one in different threads and so far Streetsoldier and I have responded.
I am trying to hit home a message and it's not directed at you. It's more for the ones that pretty much ruined the Political Forum for all of the others that just wanted to "debate" and instead used it to get their jollies by bashing each other. It will not be tolerated here.

And sometimes, we felt like Kindergarten teachers, having to admonish people for their behavior in there.

It was just a handful that truly benefited from it. It just got too hard.
