I believe I cited this wave in an earlier post. It looked impressive coming of the cape.

looks like we are back to hyping every single wave.

This does not look impressive and as soon as it moves into GOES satellite range where we can access 1/2 hour imagery at RSMAS, then I will know for sure that there is nothing at all there.

Can we also not post the alarmed face on every post. IMO, thats a bit too dramatic for a MAY TW

Derek, it's combination of the commencement of hurricane season that is minutes away and the fact that we see a fairly impressive wave (you have to admit) arleady in the Atlantic...yes...it doesn't have a great chance of making it much longer (probably won't be anything by this time tomorrow) but it's exciting...and there's nothing else to talk about out there yet (I think I speak for many people on this post).

The quickScat does not show any circulation to that wave.I dont expect anything to form from this wave in particular although I believe that the Cape Verde season will start more early than in 2004.

The convergence zone is active but there are no signs of tropical development although some will look at the convection and open the eyes.Divergence in the ITCZ is causing all the convection combined with a tropical wave but no circulation is evident at this point.
