I had a customer compliment me today :)

#1 Postby Josephine96 » Thu Jun 02, 2005 7:28 pm

Nice moment for me lol.. I actually have customers compliment me a couple times a week.. lol

But here's how it went.. A nice lady buying a bicycle for 1 of her daughters came in.. I was told to help her carry out.. {Actually it would have never been me if I would have been sent to lunch on time lol}

But anyway.. The bike doesn't seem to have a UPC label on it.. so I ran and got a price check before it was her turn in line.. {She seemed impressed by that}

Then even though it took 2-3 tries to get it to fit in the back of her van.. We got it.. She seemed very impressed, felt sorry that she was delaying me from going to lunch {I simply just told her don't worry about it lol}

She took my name and claimed she was going to call managment and tell them about my good job..

Thanks all.. It's funny.. I have a lot of fellow associates always tell me.. "You are TOO SMART FOR WAL MART".

I have so much brains, and always seem to do the right thing, go the extra mile when necessary. I think everyone in that store can't believe they have someone so intelligent working there lol..

I actually think my "smarts" and "Talent" is being wasted by pushing buggies. I wish they'd transfer me to a different position. But apparently they can't because "we can't afford to do so right now".

I think I've become too good at my current position lol..

Sometimes it's better to be an expert inone's field then the "jack of all trades". I'm sure that when the time is right for Walmart they will move/promote you. Right now, they are confident that they have someone that's handling the carts. That's one less area that they have to worry about and it's all because of you. :wink:

That's exactly what I get told all the time Steph. "We know you have it under control"..

It was funny.. We have this new CSM. Her name is Melinda.. anyway.. On her 1st day.. I went up and said Hello.. and I'm like.. "I don't believe I've seen you before.."

and then she returns with {in this lower pitched voice} "Oh.. I've seen you before.." and I was like "Ok.. where" she says.. "You'll just have to know that it's a good thing because if I would have seen you doing something bad.. you would have known who I was before this lol"

I'm sure that your talents and intelligence will lead you to wonderful places in the years ahead, but I've learned that no one ever is too good for their position.

I remember the night not long ago at work. Things were not going well...had some mechanical problems, and the staff was feeling pretty dejected as we were getting more and more behind. They called their boss (me) and woke me up and gave me the bad news.

I came in to work at like 2 am...we joked and laughed, and then I did something most bosses never do. While we were waiting for a part from the machine shop to be finished, I picked up a broom and began sweeping the floor where they worked.

2 am and the boss came in and swept the floor for the guys while they were working to get things going again.

Being humble is very important in earning respect. And earning respect is how you climb the ladder to both success and happiness.

Your chances come every day. You earn the right to move up not by being smarter or better, but in leading by example.

The compliment you earned was well deserved. Keep working hard and doing what you are doing, and it can lead to better opportunities ahead.

Wise words spoken from the manager of a company who sweeps floors and cleans toilets because it is part of my job.

My college degree is not nearly so important these days as my ability to unclog a toilet....in the ladie's room if necessary!

I am sure no matter how good the compliment made you feel, the customer felt even better. Acts of courtesy and kindness are contagious. Way to go!

Yep.. aint it the truth Mary.. I have a friend of mine who came into the store about a week ago.. and she noticed my "November 2004 Associate of the Month" badge..

She actually asked 1 of my fellow associates what he/she thought of that.. and they said.. "He should be employee of the month every month" :wink:

Guess that proves how well I'm liked at my job..
