Hey... if it's out it doesn't matter. I've seen advisories for named storms come out a half hour before release time(10:30pm for 11pm), etc(sometimes even a little more)

The "release" time varies - it will officially say "1030", but could be released at 1000, that's just how it goes.

I believe the standard they follow is no later than 15 minutes past the valid time... no earlier than 30 minutes before the valid time -- although that could be an hour. A lot of agencies follow that policy.

Thanks Pepr, I did not know that. I was wondering why sometimes was earlier than others. I've been wondering that for years. :D :D

I believe the TWO's come out faster when there is less to talk about or they have nothing much new add from their previous TWO. It's the ones that come out later that you have to watchout for.

If anyone's the expert on getting advisories first, it's you, Brent.

During the storms last year, I would start on the Weather Underground page at about :30 after(they have it before the NHC site) and would refresh frequently until it came out.

Speaking from experience (I also write meteorological bulletins) -- typically if the weather is nice the bulletin is ready WAY before it's sent out. Normally the bulletin still until the earliest possible time it could go out, directed by unit guidance. However, if the weather isn't so good and the forecast challenges are difficult, then adding those finishing touches will push it closer and closer to the valid time before it'll be sent out.
