The Keys

#1 Postby LaBreeze » Sat Jun 04, 2005 1:56 pm

I'm planning a trip down to the Florida Keys late next week and into the following week. Can anyone give me an idea if the rains will still be going on by then or will there be some sort of change? Thanks to all responses in advance!

As it looks right now for the Keys:

Monday Night through Friday:

Partly cloudy with a chance of showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms. Lows near 80. Highs near 90. Chance of rain 30 percent each period.

I expect the typical widely scattered variety for the Keys with a steady E windflow...unless something unusual forms in the NW Caribbean or Gulf.
The current rainmaker is gradually being replaced by high pressure to the west which should build in nicely starting tomorrow. :D

In Homestead / Florida City .. we've got a forecast of .. Scattered T-Storms and T-Storms for the next 10 days, as it's been for the past few days (since May 31st)

You can extend that forecast for the next 4 months for South Florida and add in E winds at 10-15. 8-) [/quote]

Howdy Breeze - Me and the wife will be in the Keys too June 11-16 - staying on Grassy Key at Marathon. I'm down to counting the "hours" now!! Here's to hoping that high builds in and it's nothing but clear skies, clear water, and hot as heck!!

It's actually not that hot in the FL keys in June. You'll see winds from the E and SE at 10 - 15 knots that has a cooling effect typically but the SSTs are usually in the low to mid 80s...so temps in the day don't get higher than the upper 80s and lows stay around 80. The humidity is high though so it does feel warmer. Once you get into August and September SSTs are in the mid to upper 80s so temps are warmer, the humidity is higher and it feels hot...but that is why there's alot of water too cool down in 8-)

My wife and I are going to the keys the 2nd week of August. I wonder how the air feel will compare to SE La.? I'm just hoping nothing of tropical nature spoils our trip

Awesome is a fact!! This is my third time and the wife's second. Without a doubt, it IS paradise!! I'm typically not an envious person, but I sure do envy those who are fortunate to live there (or closer by) all the time. Whata life!!
