I think you just did respond. I don't understand why you can not "respond" here. Just keep it within the rules of the board and respectful. This is a news item thread. However, it is becoming "edgy" towards not being allowed due to the labeling that is beginning to appear.

rainstorm FYI there are about 540 men detained at Guantanamo Bay. So you will need to adjust the numbers by 1/2 unless you are using total prisoners held abraod. I am not sure how you can factor these numbers below in. I don't know how many locations he is refering to but I assume it includes more then Guantanamo Bay. You can't even imagine how many are being held in Iraq.
''Yes, there have been instances where detainees have been mistreated while in US custody, sometimes grievously, but consider these facts," Rumsfeld said yesterday. ''To date there have been approximately 370 criminal investigations into the charges of misconduct involving detainees" since Sept. 11, 2001. About 130 military personnel have been punished as a result of the investigations.

What about the inmate "mishandling of their own Korans? From foxnews.com

White House officials also noted that the probe found instances of Guantanamo inmates mishandling their own Korans. Brig. Gen. Jay Hood (search), the commander of the detention center and leader of the investigation, discovered 15 such occasions.

what does Satan have to do with the Koran?

and what does Mein Kampf have to do with this, RS? That was not a religious document like the Koran or the Bible. You lose credibility when you make comments like that.

Satan is associated with the Koran because the New Testament clearly states that any teachings other than that by Jesus comes from Satan, not God

Huh? But the Qu'ran is Muslim, not Christian. Therefore, Christians don't read the Qu'ran to worship Jesus or God. (sorry if there are those that do... no mean to offend you) The Qu'ran is about Muhammad, not Jesus. Are you saying that only Christians have God because the New Testament states that there is only the Bible from God? What about Hindu's? Shintoism? Buddhists? Are they not religions with a God at the head of their religion? While they may not have Jesus persay, it is disappointing to see that you do not appear to reconize it as such.

See that's the problem... a news story that is political. There's got to be a line drawn, but what is it??

The problem is, any political news story is going to elicit differing opinions. With the mood of the country being what it is, it is guaranteed to deteriate into name calling and ridicule. At least when there was a specific forum for it, one knew what they were heading into and could avoid it if one so chose. Off Topic was certain to be the more pleasant choice - probably not anymore.

I, for one, am heading back to Political Crossfire. As the hurricane season approaches, I'll pop back in for weather analysis.

I'll restate what I have previously said, Yoda.

The only true teaching is that from Jesus and before him, the prophets. The other "religions" are not from God, but from Satan. I am 100% confident of this as there is no evidence that the Bible is wrong (and judging by the actions of some, when the name of Christ is invoked, there is such a reaction that it is clear that the demons are becoming concerned)

so why isnt Mohammed a prophet? Islam believes in Moses too. So you're saying that Christians are the only ones who are right? I'm offended by that and would ask the moderators to step in and draw some guidelines here.

sigh, all these years i was very confident in my spirituality and what i believed in only for derek to come in, rip the rug out, and tell me I'm a Satanist. wow. guess that explains why i'm a democrat too....

(maybe you ought to stick to weather, derek...)

I'm sorry but being offended should not mean censorship. I do not agree that any one religion has mutial excluviness to the truth either but if you disagree, then debate intellectually. The reason there is such a religious conflict going on today is because the courts have seen fit to decide that being offended by religion is cause to censor it.

there's a helluva difference between censorship and good manners. asking for the latter here.

2. Conduct. Storm2k is a FLAME free site. We do not allow personal attacks and/or personal insults. No obscenities, vulgarity, slanderous, hateful, threatening, or sexually-oriented posts allowed. Harrassment of any kind will not be tolerated and is defined as "A course of conduct directed at a specific person that causes substantial emotional distress in such person and serves no legitimate purpose" or "words, gestures, and actions which tend to annoy, alarm and abuse (verbally) another person." PM's are subject to the same contact as the open board. Non-compliance of the rules will be met with restrictions on your account including suspension or a permanent ban.

I'd say the declaration that all "other 'religions' are not from God, but from Satan" pretty much eliminates the option of rational discussion. And at any rate, intellectual debate about spiritual truths is a fruitless venture in my experience.

(I was going to answer the rest of your post, but that would be bound to get political - suffice it to say I don't agree with your characterization of what the courts have done, nor with the cuasative connection you suggest)

Storm2k should just ban the people posting any news articles concerning politics in off-topic atleast until the season is over..

I think banning is a bit harsh Kman. It's obvious though that there are certain limits that should not be crossed, especially for those that primarily were PA posters. The OT has always been nothing but a friendly forum and it would be out of total disrespect for the regular members of this forum if the discussions we had over in the PA spilled over into this forum. It's just at matter of finding that fine line and not crossing it.

I think a fine line is calling five billion people followers of satan. Just an idea for a boundary.
