If you didn't know, Dr. Jon Nese is retiring from the Weather Channel to teach school at none other than......Penn State! In fact, if I stay in the meteorology course that I'm currently signed up for (METEO 201 Introductory Weather Analysis).....if it doesn't get waived because of my knowledge.......then he will be my teacher!!!

What a great opportunity. If you don't end up taking his class, see if he needs a TA or assistant, or if you could just audit a class or something. I took a class with a well-known Texas met once, and it was awesome! They know so much, and have seen so much-- you can't help but learn from them. Especially things you didn't expect to learn! Visited Penn State a few years ago...and got a tour of their meteorology department AND met some of their staff. Whether Dr. John Neese becomes your teacher or not, you are in a great position to learn a lot in a very good program. Congratulations to you!

That's great news. Even if he isn't your teacher DrH, think of the influence and expertise he'll bring to the Met Dept.! I would suggest applying for the TA postion too, if that fits your schedule.

Although I wish I could become a teaching assistant now, I won't be able to until I'm a graduate student (right now I'm technically a second-semester sophomore)....but thanks!

And yes he will be GREAT for the department! I just don't want to take a class that is coursework that I already know.
