Again check this link out of yesterday's severe weather here in Maryland. We had intense and deadly lightning last night for a long period of time. The initial outflow roared and I mean roared through here at around 7 PM last night with wind gusts of 50-60 mph here and close to 70 mph in Harford County, MD in the town of Hickory. Storms near the Maryland/Pennsylvania line bowed out resulting in even stronger gusts in that area. This same bow echo roared into Philadelphia with wind gusts of 60-70 mph.
After this initial line of storms roared through Baltimore and our area, more storms exploded on the back side of this. It was a wild day yesterday and that lasted well into the night. It wasn't until 12:30 am when skies began to clear enough where we were out of the danger of severe weather. The lightning last night was incredibly outstanding.
Across the country yesterday, there was 252 reports of damaging winds, and 456 reports of severe weather overall. Since Saturday, there were over 1200 reports of severe weather including tornadoes, large destructive hail up to softball sized, and wind gusts over 100 mph.
