HELP!! Fla. vacation next week???

#1 Postby tano68 » Wed Jun 08, 2005 8:36 am

Hi everyone! We're planning a trip to Fort Walton Beach, Florida this Saturday - Thurs. and I'm getting a little freaked out. I'm hating the idea of sitting in a hotel room with 3 kids  ! What are the chances of having this system move in the pan handle of Florida or maybe moving a little more west, maybe to Ala? I know its really hard to try and figure out where this is going, but I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to weather and really trust your opinions!

Thanks a bunch!

The system appears to be headed towards that general area(SE LA to the FL Panhandle). Most of the rain will be east of the center. Whatever develops will *probably* be weak and wind would not be much of an issue, certainly not like the tons of rain that could fall.

Again, if the track goes too far right, you would wind up on the dry side.

I just got back from Perdido Key, FL.... right around the Florida/Alabama state line. I saw some amazing things from Hurricane Ivan that hit 9 months ago.

Florida was fun. It rained the first afternoon we got there last Tuesday and late Monday Afternoon.

Not a drop of rain from Wed - late mon afternoon. The weather was awesome.

Okay... it's looking VERY wet this weekend up there. This needs to be closely monitored.

I didn't mention this earlier, but I am getting more & more concerned about the drive there. We are spending the night in Br Friday, and driving through to Fort Walton on Sat. I wonder what the conditions will be? I hope no flooding  . Oh well, it looks like this vacation is going to be a bust

Saturday especially looks like flooding rains and maybe some gusty winds(AKA Nasty). Highly dependent on the track though.
