Best guesses on speed?

#1 Postby baygirl_1 » Wed Jun 08, 2005 8:13 pm

Since we're in the bullseye/cone and are looking at TD 1/Arlene likely making her visit this Fri/Sat... I'd appreciate your best guess on how fast she'll be going near landfall. Should she move in and out relatively fast? Or are we looking at a slow mover?
Thanks in advance!

I expect the area of low pressure will move in pretty fast.

The storm system will be "funnelled" NNW then northward between a high pressure ridge to the east and a deepening trough to the west over the plains.....which should increase the forward speed of "Arlene" as it approaches landfall along the Gulf Coast.....possibly to 15 mph or more.
