Strong speech by Bush

#1 Postby cycloneye » Thu May 01, 2003 9:23 pm

The president from the deck of the carrier Abraham Linclon spoke of the end of major combat in Iraq but he said that many troops will be there for a period of time to secure the country and to wait for a new goverment.

The strongest part of it was when he warned terrorists groups that the circule is closing on what is left of Al-Qaeda and will be defeated. Also he warned nations that may harbor terrorists and nations that have WMD that time is comming for those nations to not sponsor terrorism and have WMD or they will pay the consequences.

That is a message for Syria,Iran and North Korea. :grrr:

It was a good speech. Bush looked much healthier tonight than he has in a while. That is always good news!!!

I didn't get to watch the whole thing...did he say anything about the economy or smthg new besides the iraq situation? I'm glad he's looking healthier. Not that there was doubt on his part, but it must feel good to declare victory in a much publicized/criticized war!

The President's speech was delivered specifically to a most deserving military/naval audience; hardly the time or place to address his internal agenda.

He did look much more relaxed, and it was clear that the sailors and Marines LOVE this C-in-C! As to the meat of his delivery, it was a much more strongly worded version of the same message he gave to Congress after 9-11-01...Anyone who uses terror, or assists in sponsoring it, will be confronted. And that's all he had to say, IMHO.

The home economics can and will be addressed later...as well as (I hope) a few choice words for those in the Senate who have made a BIG blunder in blocking appointments to Federal Court benches.

I really enjoyed that speach! Mr.Bush looked and sounded strong and very confident. It was such a touching moment when he said the sailors were headed homeward bound. It was so wonderful to see the looks on those men and womans faces...sheer joy and happiness.

I agree it was a strong speech. The message that he sent to the rest of the world was just as clear as his post 9-11 message. We are committed and we will get the job done!

I bet the Secret Service had a heart attack when he decided to make the speech on the deck of a carrier. I can't imaging the pressure of the Navy pilot that took him out there :-)

The pilot even let bush fly half of the way, and asked him if he wanted to land it... I hope that second part was just a joke though... LOL... Cheney said in a speech yesturday that George had decided not to tell Mrs Bush how he was getting there untill it was over, so she could not scold him for it... LOL... Dosent matter who you are, the wife has the upper hand.. lol

For those of you that missed the speac here is the text version http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,85776,00.html

Well, former 1 LT Bush had a lot of hours racked up in the cockpit of an F-104 Delta Dagger interceptor; that Viking shouldn't have been too difficult for him, except the deck landing.

I agree Bill. Seems those same ones that claim to be not racist are just that. They blocked and even caused an historic filibuster on Estrada just because he was Latino. nuff said. What else could it have been about? Certainly not the mans credentials. He was perfect!!
