The FL Keys get very windy because they stick out into the ocean with no interference. Even a weak system like Arlene will cause some high wind gusts there. I've experience this first hand several times.

I was just about to suggest that. :P

My NWS is pretty darn close even though I am over an hour and a half away from where their central office is located.

Yeah the site is showing about the same for us in the area, 16 mph winds and gusts up to 25mph

Current S. Florida conditions (Gusts):

Palm Beach Gardens: E 20mph
Ft. Lauderale (Lauderdale By the Sea): ESE 25mph
Miami Intl: E 23mph
Key Largo (Molasses Reef): ESE 33mph
Key West (Naval Air Station): E 34
