Will Arlene become a hurricane or not?

#1 Postby cycloneye » Fri Jun 10, 2005 7:12 am

Close call now that the winds haved been bumped up to 55 mph at 8 AM.I say no but it will be very close 70 mph.

This is not a scientific poll only a sample to the members.

I think yes, only if she really gets her act together today. If she just fiddles around like she has been, no. But Im going to say yes for now, but thats subject to change.

I vote no. Still sticking with my 60 mph tropical storm at landfall. May be a little stronger, 65-70 and it's not out impossible that it could be a hurricane...but give it ~25% chance.

That GFDL might be onto something.. If the shear is going to relax it's gonna be close.. Evidently the dry air is not stopping it..I was my usual conservative self and said no for now..

I touught that this question never was going to be asked as the forecast was for a minimal to moderate storm to make landfall but that is why the tropics are full of surprises.

I voted no, but based purely on unscientific methods: It looks like we are going to get her and, therefore, she doesn't need to strengthen any more! I'm afraid it might be just wishful thinking on my part, though...

I voted no. Just don't think she's got what it takes right now. BUT then again she may hit min hurricane and I'll get to eat my first crow this year *giggles* ...maybe a craving from crow stew?

I vote no & still calling for a western Fla panhandle landfall.

Might get up to 60 mph but would'nt bet on it.

I think it might make it to a minimal hurricane right before landfall
