This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Eyewall/center of circulation possibly forming?

#1 Postby Steve » Fri Jun 10, 2005 11:20 am

http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/PS/TROP/DATA/RT ... -loop.html

Check out the last couple of frames. As the exposed LLC rotates back in to the south of the new center. It looks like there is now a closing off wall to the west of the center. The storm is clearly moving NNW at a decent clip now. It may be just another extension of the step process that moves it a bit west, mostly north, spits out a center and then starts the process over again. But it also may be the beginning of feedback. Any thoughts?

If you are right then Arlene is not very far off of her forecast track. If you were place another point in the track she will be at or near that point very soon.

The old center got spit out as a vortice...and is not being absorbed into the new center which is closer to the convection. The same thing happened yesterday...it's just that the old vortmax is getting re-absorbed a lot quicker today.

It does look as if Arlene is finally deciding on one center. She now appears to be picking up speed as she slides NNW, only to give me a hot and dry weekend while areas that have been soaked all spring just get wetter :( .

She appears to be winning the battle on her NW side as her large circulation is bringing in her own moisture. The Dry air to her EXTREME WNW is having a hard time making headway...the next few water vapor images (next 3hrs) should tell an interesting tale...

cheers,
loon

I agree loon. Arlene is definately wrapping into more moisture and more convection is popping very near the center.. next few hours should be interesting..
