Slow Internet, Anyone? (Going Quicker Now!)

#1 Postby Guest » Mon Jun 13, 2005 2:11 pm

It started I this past weekend. I have a cable modem, but it seems like I am using a 28 baud telephony modem! :(

Has anyone experience slower than normal performance? I ask this question because my brother's girlfriend also stated she has trouble (she also uses a different service).

Not really... although some weather sites were slow on Saturday(I guess due to Arlene). Things seem to be fine today.

Is it every site(including this one), or just a certain kind(news/weather)?

Its everything; however, the one site (thank God) that operates at an OK (not normal-great) mode is THIS one. LOL :)

Any site with a bunch of graphics is almost anemic. I am not sure, but I think my brother's girlfriend uses DIAL up. If this is just a sub part of the "Internet", I wonder what the dial up users are going through.

This site and Stormtrack's website works alright.

I've noticed that Weather Underground has seemed a bit slow since this past weekend.

That's one site that has been the most sluggish. I use their NWS radar (it's same thing), but they have an option to list the storm attributes, plus it updates quicker then the NWS website.

It maybe just high traffic.

Yeah, I had some trouble this weekend. Even here at Storm2k.

Seems better now, though my wireless connection is sometimes cutting in & out. It's windy here tho.

You just had to slam dial-up... been there, have that! Yes, it has been plenty slow... I couldn't connect last night.

Dial-up=Never again.

Been on cable 2 1/2 years and am wondering why I didn't get it sooner!!! Had dial-up for the first 3 years in the world of computers. I didn't realize how bad it was until I got cable.

Me and NEWeatherguy's internet is running incredibly slow. I think it's about time to give ol'e Qwest a call and tell them we are paying for cable, not 56K

I bet some new folks on your "node" just got cable internet. If no one around you has cable internet, yoru speeds will be super high. Buit as they split the bandwidth on your node to more and mor epeople, it will slow down. I live in a neighborhood full of old people (no computers!), and I get nearly double the advertised speed for RoadRunner. :)

Every so often, I get a chance to use wireless internet (usually at Atlanta Bread... I'm a paying customer, so I can use my wireless card... for stuff I can't do with dial-up... yes, dial up sucks)
