My good side says, you know how people put notes in bottles and toss them in the ocean. Maybe someone attached a note to the buoy and let her go to see where she would end up. My darkside says maybe a terrorist attached something to the buoy in the hopes it would cause massive damage to a ship or port.

That's got me baffled... those things just don't "go adrift". Cat 4's and 5's have passed over buoys and they haven't done this and we KNOW this isn't anywhere near that.

Yeah, i'm wondering how it got adrift?

They are usually anchored and tethored on very well. So that even if the anchoring comes loose, it is still tethered.

Remember, these were designed for VERY high seas and SEVERE hurricanes. Almost seems like someone installed it improperly or someone was out there playing with it. :(

That's depressing :(

Sorry Pebbles, us cancerians are worry warts, and invariably think the worst about situations. I really am concerned because as someone else said these things are made for extreme weather conditions. It does seem like someone tampered with it to send it adrift. I know JAWS ate the tether and set it adrift.

Cookiely, I can have you in charge of the Terrorist Watches and Warnings.

Of course, I, Andrew92, will continue to give Buoy Watches and Warnings when necessary.

Well if I was an administrator, moderator, pro met, or MOTM (of which I am none of the above), I could probably investigate. In the meantime, however, I will still try my best to give ideas out. (OK, that was full of myself)

And now I guess Cookiely would like to be the shark forecaster. Now what other positions can I offer so that we may figure out how this happened?

Yeah, terrorists are hijacking NOAA bouys now. Why not? Nobody is out there watching them. Easy targets. :D

Adrift...... I wonder if one day we could have a buoy type device that would stay adrift with the storm , maybe a remote buoy. That way we could constantly have recon reports from the buoy. Heck if we can have remote control planes with hellfire missles on them taking insurgents out why could't we have this.... :?:

The ocean, the final frontier. These are the voyages of 42057. Its mission: To seek out new Blobs and new LLC's. To boldly go where no Bouy has gone before.

:roflmao:

If you'd like, I can put you in charge for watching for aliens who might set buoys adrift.
