Does this mean they actually have one piece of equipment now? I'm sorry but every time I hear their name I think of the Hurricane Gilbert incident! LOL!

OK. When Hurricane Gilbert was moving over the Yucatan Peninsula into the Gom, the NHC official forecast was for Gilbert to move into Northern Mexico. However, accuweather issued a forecast that it would move further north into the Houston/Galveston Bay area. One of the local officials in Galveston ordered a mandatory evacuation based on accuweather's prediction. Needless to say Gilbert made landfall about 400 miles south of there just as the NHC had predicted.

A very costly mistake on AccuWeather's part. Remember it costs roughly $1 million to evacuate ONE mile of coastline. A perfect reason why S2K has disclaimers and makes posters use the disclaimers. Also, a perfect reason why people like notsogreatone shouldn't post official looking bulletins that different from the official guidance.

Station 42057 went adrift on 06/14/2005 and the last report from its moored position was at 0642Z. It is still transmitting valid observation data, which continue to be reported here, but with only this daily update of its location. The 1042Z position on 06/15/2005, is 14°54'13' N 80°20'21" W.

The above is the latest position this morning on 6/15/05.It is still well east of the NE tip of Nicaragua.

Ya'll are so nfunny! Seriously though--what are they going to do about the bouy? Isn't it needed for observations when a storm threatns? I would think they would send a mission out to capture it and locate it to the proper location. I mean after all--they can even catch satelites in space!

Wow... I'd never heard about that Gilbert incodent. Silly Accuweather. Amusing, however. But a mandatory evacuation? Yeah that stinks.

To continue what Andrew started earlier by Geico...

Captain of ship: Argh Matey! We will find the loot that be gone missing! Full steam ahead!

Navigator -- Um, Sir... its the bouy we be lookin' for.

Captain of Ship -- No me matey... it be... what that yonder be?

*Navigator pulls out his telescope as both see a blinking light in the distance, and go to investigate it*

Captain -- Argh! It be ye lost buoy! Tell NBDC we'z got their loot! Har Har Har! Wait a minute... since when does a buoy have money on it?

Navigator -- *nervously looks around* Well sir... ye see...

Captain -- Speak up me lad! What ye be saying?

Navigator -- That be my loot sir, I hid it on the buoy.

More in a bit... I need to think...
