Dixie could this be the predecessor of something like that yet to come? Usually aftershocks are of a lesser degree what would the odds be of an Earthquake happening of a greater magnitude right after this?

I really don't know, Radar. This was designated a "major" quake and I haven't heard the magnitude of the after shocks.

Yikes! I have family in San Fran and Medford too! I was planning a trip to Medford in July for some R&R! Hmmmmmmm I may have to think about that....I'll take a cane any day to earthquakes and tsunamis...no warning there!

No damage reported... reports say the quake was like a 3-4 on the coast(which happen all the time). Apparently scientists were able to determine that the faults didn't move the right way to create a Tsunami(the warning now seems to be automatic when an over water quake occurs that's a 7.0 or larger). It was a good practice run though!!!
