Getting closer
We have about 45 days until the real Hurricane Season Starts. I know that it officially starts June 1st, and that we have already had a Tropical Storm. However, it won't be long until it gets cooking and we will have plenty to track. I remember the excitement when a wave moves off of Africa and you know it has a legitimate chance at development. I'm not "cheering" for hurricanes, but I have got to admit it gets my blood pumping when Cape Verde season begins.

I have to agree and disagree with that statement. We are likely to have a few named storms before August comes, and even big storms like Audrey, and Bertha are possible given the activity of the ITCZ, and the above normal SST's. I would not be surprised to be going on Dennis by the time August comes around.

It's really hard to say about early season development. However, there seems to be a real possibility that the Cape Verde season may begin a little early this season. The SST's sure won't stop it. However, the only thing that I think could stand in the way is the amount of dust/sand coming off Africa. I remember last year in July all other conditions seem to be perfect and the Saharan Dust killed the Waves. Once the dust cleared out, it was Katy bar the door.
