If your number was up...

#1 Postby Steve » Fri Jun 17, 2005 11:42 pm

would going out in a blaze of glory in the middle of a fierce eyewall give you some final satisfaction? heh On your scale (1-10 or whatever) that might indicate a certain level of hurricane fanaticism. Of course I would want to fight through the danger and win, but...

Wow, Steve what a question. But my fascination with hurricanes doesnt make me a raving lunatic.... I would prefer to "go" in a less violent or tragic way. IF I had my choice it would be to pass away pain free in my sleep, I would rather live through the hurricanes!!!

It was a left fielder, but I had a dream like that once. I was bobbing in the Gulf of Mexico before a hurricane rolled in. Then a massive (50'?) wave picked me up and slammed me into the shore. It was the wave I was waiting for, but I don't know if it killed me or not because I woke up. I wasn't panic-ing like you do in a nightmare, so the idea that it must have not been that bad of a way to go occurred to me.

Oh btw, they upped the scale on the super high-resolution SST link to red = 35C (which I think is approximately 95F). Nothing on the map is that hue yet....

Wow Steve. Looking at that map, which was from Friday, June 17, it shows some areas of the Gulf with 32 degree celsius water temps and higher. That is simply incredible. Is that map from Johns Hopkins accurate? If it is, then the Gulf is simply ripe for some really bad hurricanes this season.

Like Chief Brody said in Jaws, "We're gonna need a bigger boat."

My dreams are fairly tame compared to that!!! It would be interesting to have someone who analyzed dreams explain what your dream may have meant.... "Surf's Up" somehow just doesnt cut it as a good analysis..

Wow 95*F is on the map that is almost boiling point, if the conditions are favorable, very little dry air, very little sheer, we could really be looking at a potential system to bomb out there.... You may get your 50 footer yet! Prepare for lift off!!

track,

check out the website. Here's their explanation page on the ocean remote sensing.

You gotta know Hopkins is one of the most elite schools, so I think they have as much credibility as anybody.

If I had to go, I would pull a Bruce Willis and blow up the asteroid, it would be hard to imagine, but just think that the entire world, mankind...all life was waiting for you to press one button. But hey...I would save the world ;)

I haven't had a bad dream in years until last night.

It had to do with Tsunami's hitting where we went on vacation a few weeks ago. We ran as far up the beach as we could and as high up. I remember wanting to get in an elevator and going to the 15th floor.

Then we got home and the tsunamis were hitting here and i couldn't get in touch with any of my family. I finally did, but never the grandparents. I remember sitting through for hours and they said the tsunamis wouldn't stop. The waves got bigger and it was dark outside... then I woke up.

I guess all this talk about Tsunamis before i went to sleep got to me.

I already know what I want to be doing when I check out, and it has nothing to do with hurricanes :D

If I knew I had some terminal disease and that I was left with just a day or two, I'd totally tie myself to a bridge during a giant 'cane like Skink did in Carl Hiaasen's Stormy Weather and ride that bad boy to the end.

If it was my time to go I would try to do everything I always wanted to do. I would not let anything or anybody stop me. I would be like superman... Until I hit the ground.. :D
