Above Normal June S. Florida Rainfall, Dry Weather Ahead

#1 Postby gatorcane » Thu Jun 23, 2005 8:58 am

Lots of Tropical rainfall across S. Florida in May/June. It seems like it has been overcast/raining for the past month consistently so I thought I would look at some data. S. Florida is far above the averages so far but looking at long range models, very dry weather is ahead once the ULL moves towards the East and away from the peninsula.

Miami is already more than 2x its avg rainfall for the month with 1
week left in June!

Rainfall (in inches) Through June 23rd:

West Palm Beach: Rainfall to Date: 8.23, avg: 7.58, diff: +0.65
Ft. Lauderdale: Rainfall to Date: 13.39, avg: 10.01, diff: +3.38
Boca Raton: Rainfall to Date: 12.16, avg: 7.31, diff: +4.85
Miami: Rainfall to Date: 14.74, avg: 6.90, diff: +7.84

No kidding. My parents, in NC, were talking to me about something called the sun and their need for sunglasses. I had to clarify what those things were because it's been so long. :A:

No, unfortunately I am wrong, there are some models that are bringing a low off the SE coast of FL this weekend from Cuba. That means yet another wet weekend. I'm looking out the window and it's abour ready to pour down rain here yet again in S. Palm Beach County.

No, actually I am right. I had to research this "low" that models indicate would be forming but see no signs of that happening just yet. The ULL is moving N and E and dry air is starting to wrap around it and infiltrate S. Florida. I see the sun today!

It appears that finally S. Florida may see a nice weekend....

The ground is saturated everywhere in here Brevard. We really need some sunshine to dry things out before we turn back into a swamp.
