I keep hearing over and over that the various models (GFS to be specific) are suffering from "convective feedback", skewing the data they are reporting. Exactly what does this mean? Before the past couple of weeks, I have never heard that term used before. What has happened differently in recent days, causing this erroneous data forecasting by the models??

Some of the models have always had issues with convective feedback. What it is concerns the thunderstorms/heat/pressure feeding back on itself causing storm regeneration. What happens, and any experts can doctor this up is that some of the models change moisture profiles and vertical temperatures as a result of the actual convective process (+/- thunderstorms & convection) which can result in unpredictable variations on what the models spit out.
