But if I wanna do any bashing about a bad day.. I'll just refer to the person as this person lol..
Nerves:
I am kinda nervous and excited.. I really wanna know what 1 of the store bosses' decisions is regarding the pharmacy stocker position. Even though it's "his" decision.. I have the feeling he probably consulted with the rest of management with help in the decision..
I have already decided.. If I DO NOT get the job.. Not to be disappointed, and just apply for another opening I may wanna pursue. I even had a girl tell me today.. she applied for 2 dept. manager positions.. didn't get either.. then applied for CSM and got it..
Needless to say.. I just wanna know what he'll decide.. I've already been told how he's gonna tell me. The torturous way lol.. The other candidate and myself will be brought into the personnel office, and we will be told basically who they think is better deservant of the shot at the position. {Kinda sounds like the last round of American Idol lol}
Oh well.. This will be my thread and I'll keep it going.. and only start new 1's about Wally World if I think they are deserving..

Just wanted to let you guys know that I did not get the pharmacy stocker job.. Another girl got it..
When the manager talked to me.. He said.. "Keep applying for openings when they arise, cause you'll get 1 sooner or later.. and work on that temper"..
I'll admit.. I have a short fuse.. But that's only when someone gets under my skin.. which is usually not that often.. I have the feeling this mgr. dude used "the incident" {the Mothers' day car hitting} as a strike against me..
Oh well.. I also know that I think management is too afraid to go out and find a replacement for me in the parking lot..

Sorry to hear this John. I think the advice you were given was constructive criticism. Please try to take it in a positive way. If you do need to work on your temper, sincerely do so. I think your boss was just trying to give a direction to go. Keep applying for new positions but helpful advice along the way too.
I can remember applying for the Surgery Scheduler position at the large doctor's office group I worked at years ago. Everyone I worked with at the front desk (and nurses) thought I'd be excellent in this position. Of course the hours were better - you could make them your own, 8 to 4 or 9 to 5. A real lunch break (didn't quite get that answering phones) and you could wear street clothes, not uniforms. I had my hopes really high for this position! Well, I was flat out turned down by my office manager, giving me this glowing praise on the job I already did......I didn't want to hear it. In time I got over my resentment of not getting this other job within the firm. Long story short, I had to precure a recommendation letter from him and he stated in this letter I held the most challenging job of all - manning a hectic front desk, answering 9 in coming lines, scheduling appts., signing patients in, taking payments, etc. Yeah it was busy, but just seeing this in his letter finally hit home - I did a good job. 20+ years later I finally realize this! BTW, I had to chuckle though...somehow I thing being a surgeon in this group was a bit more of a challenge!!! LOL
So maybe you need to pat yourself on the back, smile more and chin up!

Sorry to hear that John, but Mary and Helen provided some excellent advice that I think is great.
Keep applying if you want to climb the corporate ladder. Something will turn up!

Keep your head up...something better will come up. God has a plan for you, just remember that. Many long moons ago when I worked for the local hospital I wanted out of the Emergency Room, wanted a day time job and no weekends. I applied in Pathology as a transcriptionist, was told I had the job, just had to be approved by my supervisor who told me she did, then I was told our Administrator shot me down, said he couldn't replace me. So I applied for a job in Medical Records as a transcriptionist, same thing....Administration wouldn't let me transfer....last time I applied for job in Admissions...just to get me away from the Hell and stress in the Emergency Room...again the same thing.....shot down by Administration...so you know what...a new doctor came into town and opened his own office, I went to work for him and now in December it will be 25 years that I have worked for him. Started as a transcriptionist/workers comp coordinator and went all the way up to Office Manager....................did that for 12 years and then said...I want to step down a peg....I had two children who were very active and needed me at home more...so am very happy that I did that, not as much responsibility, a whole lot less stress and can sorta leave my job at home...well I do bring stuff home to do ..but that's just me..its gotta get done and I'm the only one that can do it...so....
sorry about the long story...just keep your head up like I said and keep looking and if it seems like you are being railroaded into staying where you are and don't like it...there are other stores in your area that I am sure would be grateful for a well trained employee who works hard and has the same work ethic that you seem to have.
Good Luck!

Here's the interesting thing..
1 night in December.. they were short unloaders in the back.. and the night manager came out and asked "Who's over 18 here".. I was the only 1 lol..
So they wanted me to help go unload a truck.. Despite the stress and the sweat and dirt of that sorta position.. Unloading trucks didn't seem too bad.. and I actually did kinda like it..
Not saying that's an option I'd consider doing.. But if they needed unloaders.. I'd most likely apply..

In today's WMJ.. I wanted to share a realization..
I was outside.. baking in the heat.. and 1 of the CSM's came out.. checking on the cart pushers.. He happened to notice how hard I was working and decided to help me..
He then stated "Ya know.. you're the best most dependable cart pusher we have ya know that".. I'm like "Yes I do.. I am #1".. and He's like.. "you sure you're drinking enough water or gatorade and stuff right..?" I then replied "Yes sir.. you guys are treating me like gold huh" lol
and then he said.. "We treat you that way because to us.. you are gold.. You work so hard.. and deserve to be treated well".
So.. I'm kinda happy as a buggy pusher right now.. I've also realized that if my oppurtunity for a moving up appears ahead.. I'll apply for it..

You seem like a hard worker. Good job. Don't lose heart if advancement comes slow, just stick to it if this is where you want to be. Keep your head above all drama, don't become stressed over the little things, and if you ever feel unfulfilled, just remember to give it time and if it persists, there is opportunity everywhere.

Thank you for all the compliments guys..
and btw George.. My eventual goal is to be a store manager or even just an asst. manager..
My current store manager is teaching me a lot about how to run a business as I see the way he does it.. I'm also learning that he may not always make the most popular decisions.. but sometimes they must be done..

I don't work at Wal-Mart, but I do a similar job such as yours, John! I am out in the heat. It reached like 95 degrees yesterday with moderate humidity levels. Anyway, I worked a 7am to 4pm shiftSunday, and one of the front end supervisors told me, maybe not at the BEST time (my last hour

Man Accused Of Molesting 13-Year-Old In Wal-Mart
A 42-year-old man in Kissimmee, Fla., has been charged on suspicion he intentionally touched the breast of a 13-year-old girl inside a Wal-Mart store, according to police.
Earlier this month, officers with the Kissimmee Police Department responded to a call at the Wal-Mart located at 1471 E. Osceola Parkway.
When officers arrived, a girl told them she was approached by Scott Taylor inside the store, according to a sheriff's report.
The girl said Taylor asked her numerous questions and, during his interaction with the victim, intentionally touched her breast, the report said.
The victim became uncomfortable, walked away, and began looking for her mother.
When the victim could not immediately find her mother she stopped a store employee and reported the incident.
Taylor fled the store and ran into a wooded area but was captured and detained by a Wal-Mart Loss Prevention officer.
Taylor was arrested and transported to the Osceola County Jail.
He is now charged with lewd and lascivious molestation of a minor.

I think I may remember the day this happened.. I didn't witness or hear about the exact incident.. But I do remember seeing numerous members of my stores' LP as well as management who ran trying to catch this creep.
