Get ready Texas
The ULL over Southern Florida now moving west will eventually be a rain maker for you in Texas, should take some heat off of you. Now that having been said, we could see a hybrid from this system if it stays in the GOM for very long and the dry air around the westside moistens, and it works its self down to the surface. It remains to be seen. Have fun everyone... going to lunch.

I looked it up. Hope this helps.
rain (rayn)
NOUN:
Water condensed from atmospheric vapor and falling in drops.
A fall of such water; a rainstorm.
The descent of such water.
Wonder if we'll really see something like that here in TX. I'll have to blog it if we do.

March was the last time we have had rain that stayed in the area for a few days... I dont think we have had any good soaking rain since then... I know that this is the driest June on record for Texas... We had 8/10ths of an inch for the month of June.... the driest June on record was in the 30's and they had a 12 th of an inch then.... so yes, it is depressing....

We feel your pain over here. It's been miserably dry again this Summer.
I've been asking a lot of "old timers" about weather trends as of late,
and have some pretty interesting stuff from them.
They say in years when the tropics are quiet, that we get lots of
showers (sea breeze variety) and good ol' afternoon thunderstorms.
They say since the tropics have gotten really active again, the
"normal" rains have quit, and we have more of the drought like conditions.
I've only lived here since 1999, so I can't attest to the relatively quiet
period from 1970-1994, but from 1999 to date, it's usually very hot
and abnormally dry. Lots of records have been broken or close to it.
Dryest May, June, July, August, many record highs, many record
"warmest low temps", it's certainly different that climatology indicates.
I'm not a proponent of "global warming". Sure, there probably is a
climate change underway right now, but come on, we only have
200 years of weather data, and only half of that I would consider accurate.
How do we really know what is a trend, an anomoly, and a true change?

I actually came through a light shower just north of Galveston this morning. Of course it stopped 5 miles south of my house. I don't even want to see my water bill this month. I've water the grass twice a week and washed my car almost as often. Still no rain. Maybe I could try painting the house to attract rain.

Actually the ETA's latest run shows moisture building in the central GOM come early next week, but I think it is a result of the Tropical Wave now pushing NW through the Central Carib. and nothing to do with the ULL now currently over Florida. Still, may need to watch the central GOM next week to see if anything gels.
