Yes Andy... it was nice.

It was the 7th day out of the last 9 that has been above normal.

It was the 8th day out of the last 9 that has been at or above 70 degrees.

Everyone was yelling at me for saying it was going to get warmer!!

Seeing the latest models this evening, it appears that this weekend may actually be on the dry side other than a stray sprinkle or two. GFS, ETA, MM5 all showing the mostly dry theme with most if not all precip occuring very late sunday into the after mid-night hours on monday. However, while MM5 has a good deal of precip over us during this time, GEM model has the precip up in the northern interior with rest of the puget sound being dry. And while the weather seems to improve a bit after about monday, ECMWF is showing a zonal flow with heights near 570DM. So this means that there will be the small threat of a spotty shower through July 1st time period.

A gradual pattern change is underway...and long range models are starting to pick up on it.

This weekend looks relatively dry with a northwest flow aloft...interesting note; onshore flow is fairly strong this evening...we have sustained wind of 12-14 mph...with a few higher gusts.

Sunday night looks to be the best bet for rainfall...an upper level trough parks off the PNW coast and turns into a closed low. Still not much precipitation but it will be widespread.

Monday on looks warmer and drier...500 mb heights climb and a stronger ridge develops off the west coast...first time in almost a month. By Thursday, temperatures will probably surpass the 80F mark.

TT-SEA...you may be correct that SeaTac will end the month below normal for rainfall, but many locations have had double...if not triple...their average June rainfall. Just goes to show the variability of microclimates in Western Washington.

And another thing...

To keep this thread active and alive, I think we all need to stay neutral and accept everyone's ideas/opinions...this is getting ridiculous...hardly anyone posts anymore. In particular, this goes to TT-SEA and Snow_Wizzard...but also everyone who has posted/read this thread.

I rarely (if ever) attack someone personally or directly.

Snow_Wizzard gets really mad when I flood him with facts that go against his theory that this is the strangest year ever. That is when he attacks personally.

I really do not get it.

If this year is so strange... what would we call 1993??

Some events from the first half of 1993:

1) Amazing flooding in California
2) Unbelievably dry in the PNW during the late winter
3) One of the biggest storms EVER to the hit the Southeast and the East Coast in March of 1993
4) The second wettest April-June period EVER in Seattle
5) The worst flooding in recorded history in the Midwest

I could go on and on...

So why can't we call 1993 the strangest year ever??? Yet all that craziness led to a boring winter in Western Washington.

How can SW be so "in your face" about the fact that this coming winter is going to be like living on the arctic circle.

Where is the DEEP low pressure that was going to "slam" us the weekend???

My point is... Snow_Wizzard takes all this WAY too personally.

After some morning light showers, the sun is starting to peak out from behind the clouds. We are currently still at 60F, which we have been stuck at for the last several hours. I expect that we should hit the 68-70F mark later today. Next week, especially late next week into next weekend looks fantastic. Warming temperatures and Partly to Mostly Sunny conditions. You really can't ask for more around Western Washington that that.

W13...

No such showers of any kind this morning. None! Lots of grey clouds through about early noon time, which I though would never clear up and was thinking of calling a blah day. BUT not so..! Skies have been partly cloudy since about an hour ago. And feels pretty good outside. Current temp at 3:27pm is 69 with humidity 58%. -- Andy

Yeah Andy, we had a good three hours of light, misty showers. We ended up with 0.03" of rain in the rain gauge. Currently we have 67F and Partly Cloudy Skies. Not a bad day at all. 8-)

Well... another day ABOVE normal.

8 out of the last 10 days have been at or ABOVE normal.

9 out of the last 10 days have been at or above 70 degrees.

Come on guys. This month has mellowed into a very quiet pattern.

How about this:

11 days in June at or above normal.

14 days in June below normal.

Not too dramatic!! PLEASE tell me how this is the strangest year ever???

snow_wizzard wrote:Good grief...The NWS it terrible at predicting temperatures sometimes! There is absolutley, positively NO WAY it will be in the 70s Wednesday through Saturday. No way, no how...I think you could say I am sure about that!

SW gets so angry when he thinks he is right.

Highs have been in the 70's on Thursday, Friday, AND Saturday.

He was so sure of himself!!

So why is SW not here now????? If it was in the upper 50's with the INTENSE onshore flow he thought was coming... he would be posting right now. :D

Because he is simply tired of having everything he talks about shot down in an instant. No matter what, SW is wrong. That has been pretty much the case for the last several months. He would propose what HE thinks will happen, and he immediately gets HIS opinion shot down by you. Give the guy some respect for his opinion, and when he is wrong just say something along the lines of "Hey SW, I guess it didn't work out the way you thought it would, better luck next time". You really don't have to spend hours proving what SW says to be false. Just give the guy a break and this place will be much happier. After all, a place where people can voice their opinion and talk about current matters is a forum, which is what Storm2K is. If this happens it is a happier place for all.

Just my 2 cents.

IF snow_wizzard came on here and said...

"I really think the NWS is wrong... looks like it might be cooler than the 70's this week"

... then I would respond the way you suggested.

When someone says "absolutely, postively NO WAY" and "no way, no how"

And then he is DEAD WRONG.

Come on.

It is all about respect!! It doesn't matter who is right or wrong. If someones opinion/forecast is wrong it is fine to point out why it was incorrect and maybe suggest what they might look for to do a "better job" the next time. It is not repsectful to just point and say look you were srong again and I wasn't. That is just plain immature. It is not a competition. It is a discussion forum and hopefully learning experience for everyone.

Exactly.

I have learned a great deal on here.

But snow_wizzard has directly called my opinions a joke and... at times... goes WAY overboard with his posts.

When someone comes out swinging... so sure they are right.. so cocky.
They better be right!!

Or I have every right to point out that they are not.

It's probably a good idea SW takes a break from the forum...he needs to cool and get himself collected. And I liked W13's post...very thoughtful and respectful idea. TT-SEA...I have to agree. All these posts restating the same thing is immature and pointless. Everyone has an opinion...let them speak. But don't shoot them down everytime someone makes a comment or prediction...you're come off too strong and arrogant...like only your opinion matters. We all need to chill.

Back to weather...a nice day...cloudy until about 2pm and then sunny and a beautiful evening. Tomorrow look for increasing clouds with some showers esp. along the coast and southwest interior as a baroclinic band forms around the upper level low. Not much precipitation though...the system is splitting with a weak ridge overhead.

Next week looks iffy at best...all models agree on building heights but the GFS brings in another trough towards midweek...it's hard to believe that 500 mb heights approaching 570 would still allow precipitation over Western Washington.

Just because someone else might be immature doesn't mean you need to be that way too. If anyone has a problem with anyone bring it to the attention of the mods. That is what we are here for. You all have done a very good job of minitoring yourselves and keeping things in check, but when I see posts such as this and the other I commented on I know we may have to come in and deal with things. Everyone remember to be respectful and allow others their opinions, whether you agree or not.

Below normal day... finally. Looks like it will end up 4 degrees below normal.

Only the 3rd day in the last 11.

Tomorrow should be below normal as well. But we should end the month on a warm note in the 70's on Wednesday and maybe Thursday.

And now... with rainfall of .01 we have reached normal for June.

Should go slightly above... but Sea-Tac is getting shadowed with this system so far.

Been lightning raining here since about early-late evening time of before night fall. Currently 56 degrees and light rain. I`m off to Ohio tomorrow late morning. Will be there for three weeks to visit my grandmaw, other relatives, and a big family reunion(held yearly) to go too on July 4th.
