Okay, I didn't think any car trunk interior had any kind of thing to actually grab onto and bring down *click*.

I'm not sure on that... but the police have ruled it accidential. If they had any suspicion of foul play they wouldn't have done that.

I DID hear that newer cars have a thing where you can OPEN it from the inside but this was an older model which didn't have it.

One can easily grab on to something and pull it down.There does not have to be an actual handle to do that.

Rain Might Have Muffled Children's Cries For Help
Boys Had Been Missing Since Wednesday

CAMDEN, N.J. -- A hard rain on the night three New Jersey boys went missing may have hampered searchers looking for them.

Their bodies were found in the trunk of a car parked in the same yard in which they were last seen.

Heavy showers may have muffled any noises from the well-insulated trunk, which was parked far enough from the house to make it difficult to hear any voices coming from it.

Also, a prosecutor says the hydraulic plunger that keeps the trunk from closing wasn't working, so the lid was able to close and lock as soon as the boys stopped propping it up.

Authorities said the boys -- Jesstin Pagan, 5; Daniel Agosto, 6; and Anibal Cruz, 11 -- died from accidental suffocation.

Foul play is not suspected.

Neighbors said the Toyota had been parked behind the Cruz home for at least three months. City Police Chief Edwin Figueroa said the vehicle had been searched before, but it's not clear whether the trunk had been checked.

The families of the three children appeared on camera and made a tearful plea to the public Friday afternoon for help finding their missing boys. There was a $9,000 reward and the public was invited to contribute.

The reward from the Citizens Crime Commission was for any information related to the three missing boys.

"All you guys, we love you. We want you back. We're not mad at you. Please come back. Please bring my baby back," said Jessica Pagan, mother of Jesstin "Manny" Pagan. "If you have him, please let him go, please."

"If anyone has seen the three kids, please contact that number that they gave you," said Iraida Roman, mother of Daniel Agosto. "We want them back home as soon as possible."

The mother of Anibal Cruz spoke in Spanish and asked for anyone with information to come forward.

During the emotional pleas, many family members, along with some officials, were in tears on the podium.

Police had been working closely with family members to track down all possible leads.

More than 100 searchers, including police officers, volunteers, firefighters, helicopters, dive teams and bloodhounds, were looking for the three children.

I can't believe they didn't check the trunk when they searched the car the first time. At that point, the boys had only been missing about 3 hours, and maybe still alive.

When I was growing up, you'd occasionally hear about a child that crawled into a toy chest, an old unused refrigerator in someone's garage, or an abandoned car's trunk. I can remember my mom telling me to never play in any of these items and to stay far away. I didn't even want to buy a toy chest with a lid when my kids were small.

These were the concerns 25-30 years ago - legit, terrible accidents kids got themselves into. Not at the hands of a pervert.

I think I was wrong in this case - it sounds as if it was a tragic accident. The kids crawled in, maybe to hide from someone and couldn't get out.

I even thought that when the mom said "we won't be mad" that perhaps they've done something like this before. I remember stories like those above Miss Mary. However, in this day and age, you never know and I think that alot of us are much more cynical than we were before.

This is just so sad, breaks my heart.

I can't understand if they had bloodhounds out there tracking why they didn't "hit" on the car. That just doesn't make sense the boys scent should have led them to the car immediately especially since they were still there.

I'll say some prayers for these families!!

Puerto Rico is mourning the death of the three kids as they are from this island.I notice the sadness of the people as you go everywhere.Arrangements are being made to transport the bodies from NJ to PR.I am praying for the families.

I can't believe that no one checked the darn trunk of the car. A report I read said that the car is in the back corner of someones' yard, and that the kids were known to play around it! Duh! Look IN the car, UNDER it, lift the hood... and - OH, I DON'T KNOW - maybe check the trunk! I absolutely hate it when kids pay with their bodies, their innocence and their very lives for the stupidity of adults. We just had a nasty SUV rollover crash - at least seven rolls - all four occupants were ejected. One kid died. NO SEATBELTS. The man driving should get a murder charge if you ask me (it was his own son that died). We also had a lady driving with no license due to a medical condition - she had some kind of episode and put her vehicle into a kid at a bus stop and punched him through a brick wall, right into someone's back yard. Why shouldn't she at least get life in prison?
