I loved those wax straws with juice in them and also the paper straws with candy in them. I remember the wax lips and coke bottles too.

One of my favorites was the bracelets and necklaces made with candy. when I had a whole lot of them, I thought I was IT.

I love those wax lips (and the wax lips with fangs too!). They sell them here in Galveston at an ice cream parlor/candy store on the Strand.

You know, iceangel, I was so naive when I was younger, I didn't know the "purpose" of those candy necklaces into recent years when I saw them again and put the pieces together.

duckie, you didn't know you were supposed to put them around your neck and eat the candies from there or am I missing something?

Btw, there's a candy store just outside of Beaumont in Port Neches full of nostalgia candy. They have tons of stuff that you won't find anywhere else, a lot of things that I never even heard of. I racked up on cinnamon toothpicks, those little wafers that come in a roll, chic-o-stix, and a bunch of other stuff. I felt like a little kid walking out with my brown paperbag full of candy! And yes, they still make candy cigarettes because they had them there.

I wish I could remember all of the stuff I saw...that store was a blast! I think it's time to go back.

They still make the wax bottles with they syrup in them, my daughters get them at the local Wal-Mart in the Candy section... look for them next time...

I loved the waxed lips... it seems to me like they come out with those around Halloween sometimes... Does anyone remember seeing them recently?

Also, how about Clark's Teaberry gum, is that still around? If so where can you get it?

If anyone lives in the Biloxi area and would like to get Candy Cigarettes there is a little store in Woolmarket that sells them.... I love the taste of them and the are guaranteed not to give you cancer... diabetes maybe, but no cancer lol

When I would go down to the railroad tracks or to the woods in our so called "secret hideaway", I would always make sure I had some necklaces or bracelets, in case I ever got lost and hungry

I don't remember this particular bubble toy!!! I can't believe it either....maybe they weren't available in Ohio?

But I do remember plenty about candy, etc. My faves....mostly penny candy.

-Bubble Gum! (like the Gold Rush type, still available)

-Buttons

-Red Licorice rollups - came 4 to a pack, wrapped in clear celophane. I can sometimes find them at an old time candy store.

-Wax lips - yes I remember them!!! Loved them, especially the blue and white ones.

-Teaberry and Beamon's Gum!!! I can find them at a local hospital's gift shop - of all places.

-Buying red licorice sticks, loose, in a large round glass jar with lid, at our community's park and pool. 1 cent each.

-Getting all your penny candy in small, brown paper bags.

And collecting stray glass soda pop bottles for the return fee, to buy more candy!

Anyone remember popsicle trucks, similar to ice cream trucks? My faves were root beer, blue raspberry and the white ones (lemonade?).

how about pop rocks and there was a candy I liked when i was a kid that was in a garbage can and was shaped like pieces of real garbage....fishbones,ect. I don't remember the name of that one though!

Mine was great. I trained him to stay, sit, play dead, and attack. But, of course, he could only attack if I picked him up from the desk and held him momentarily. He had to sense my trust in him and need for protection before he would ever really attack anyone. He was good like that. I gave him to a friend's younger brother when he started having bad dreams. Helped him feel safe. He took good care of him and later trained him to beg, swim, and guard the door. He was an excellent pet...never took him for granite.
