Joe B polls

#1 Postby dhweather » Fri Jul 01, 2005 2:11 pm

I'm about to put a couple of polls out for the s2k community on Joe Bastardi.

I ask that each of you keep an open mind and answer them
objectively, and please refrain from bashing in any manner.

Hey! Post number 1776 for me!

Too bad I couldn't have saved that for the Fourth of July. 8-)

Excuse me...but can I ask what your credentials are in polling? I mean...have you ever worked for Gallup? What is your experience? Is this something you think you are qualified to do?

I know you are joking, but I'll gladly tell my credentials, I worked my butt off for them!

BS - Mississippi State University, Computer Science and Statistics
MS - Mississippi State University, Computer Science and Statistics

I'll let you guess why I love polls so much. :D

And toss in 13 years of systems engineering and administration for the
largest supercomputers ever buit, and you have me. I "cut my teeth"
on a Cray YMP-8, then a Cray C-916, then a Cray T3E, then an
SGI Origin 2000, then a Cray SV-1, then an IBM Power 3, then an
IBM P series 690, then an IBM P series 690+

The first was just over 1 gigaflop - 1 billion floating point calculations
per second, with 8 Cray Vector processors.

The most recent is just over 10,000 gigaflops, or 10 teraflops,
over 10 trillion floating point operations per second, with 3,000
IBM Power 4+ processors.

You can call me a supergeek.

Are you a Sysad or what dh? I mean now? I ask because as a Sysad myself, I see you have mastered the art of looking busy while in reality spending most of your day posting to weatherboards =]

cheers

I'm now focusing on engineering and design. Being on call 24x7x265
gets old, and with a baby, it makes it even harder.

bah, tell me about it, I work for an international software development company, and we just had a baby boy recently. The wife takes care of him most of the time but the 2am phone calls for server reboots are always a treat =]

That was pure misery. I feel your pain!!!!

Fortunately, after mine was 3 months, she started sleeping 6-8 hours
a night. Made life for me and my wife much easier.

I still have a ticker I picked up from NCAR years ago that reads

"My other computer is a CRAY" - ah, sweetness.
