AP Test Takers...
Come on in a post what you took and how you think you did.
I just took the AP English Literature test this morning. It was a bit difficult but not quite as bad as I had expected. Only one of the essays was very troublesome, but all of them, I thought, were somewhat difficult. English isn't my strongest subject.

BTW, what grade are you in? I hear that some of my friends are taking the AP Bio national come Monday.
Only a freshman...but I plan on going all out with AP classes in my Junior and Senior years.
Want to be a meteorologist (obviously), so I think AP physics will look good on my transcript. I'm also planning on doing AP German, AP American History, AP economics (well, maybe), and AP English. Will be interesting to see how I do in pre-calc. Hell, I may take AP Calculus as well.
I want to impress colleges BIG TIME.

Ahh, grammar is one thing, literature is another. My linguistic interests lie in the concrete structure of language on a basic level, especially morphology and phonology. I am not so much interested in syntax and vocabulary and much less interested in things language is used for, such as writing books. And on top of that, I am not really good at that kind of stuff.

I'm in 12th grade.
I took both AP Calculus tests. I thought they weren't that bad. Physics was somewhat tough, but that was because the first year I took it, I didn't actually take the AP class (they didn't have it then), but the teacher recommended me to take the test anyways. And the second year, I took physics C and the teacher didn't manage to get us through all the material in time, so I missed some important stuff and we had to rush through at the end. Anyways, I did okay on the tests despite all that.

I understand, WidreMann; but looking it from the "whole picture" -- your interest in a portion of English may make one think that you enjoy the subject.
I took Physics in high school, it was the teacher's first year teaching any (science) subject at any school, aside from 'practice teaching' -- needless to say, you can't do well when the teacher doesn't even know what she is teaching. Come to find out the very next year she wasn't teaching Physics anymore.
Edited to add: Which made matters worse, I was only one out of three juniors that took Chemistry our senior year, rather than our junior year... so the entire class were seniors.

I'm not sure why so many people don't like Calculus. I've heard it can be used to find the slopes of lines and things of that nature. I've also heard that Algebra 2 is harder than Calculus. I'm very good with Algebra 1, so if that is to be a preview of Algebra 2 then I should have an easy time with it. Could that mean I will be very good at Calculus? I'll find out!

Calculus is, in terms of the actual math, really just new tricks with algebra. Limits are the only thing that doesn't already exist in algebra. Everything else, derivatives, integrals and the like are built on algebra and limits. However, using differentiation and integration does not require algebra. For example, the derivative is defined as the instantaneous rate of change of a function with respect to its dependant variable. To technically find the derivative, one must use the special slope function f(x+h)-f(x) over h (pretty much from algebra) and let h go to 0. Whatever you get is the derivative. However, in practice, somebody has already worked out a few common derivatives, so you use these in combination with each other to take the derivative of functions, no matter how complex. For example, if you have a function with 3 terms, you can take the derivative of each term separately and then add the derivatives of each term back together to get the new derivative function.

widremann...I understand the fact that Calc is on the basis of algebra, but there are only some portions that I don't understand...differential equations just happens to be one of them. Anyways, limits, substitution and derivates aren't a problem...once I understand what needs to be done, then I'm fine.
I had Intro to Calc in high school and struggled my way through it...I'm glad I received a C! I then took Calc I at UWGB and ended up with a BC. (FYI...silly me tested into Calc II, but don't ask me how I did it...to this day, it is still mind boggling!) I then enrolled in Calc II while I was at UW-Milwaukee and miserably failed it! I am currently retaking calc II here at UWGB, my professor is aware that I am struggling, but she also knows that I am getting help, by coming into her office hours....which always leaves a good impression when professors do the grading.
In my earlier post, I meant to say that I am taking stats next semester...it will be a nice change from dragging my brain through calc II.

The math I'm in now is getting very difficult. We are doing surface integrals. It's getting harder to grasp what's going on conceptually, though the math itself isn't really anything new. I understood vectors, multiple integrals and line integrals pretty well, but it is starting to get weird.

I always liked to know the equations in Calculus and Trigonometry are used in meteorology. I have an idea what they are, probably the ones that were mentioned in this thread.
I may create a new thread on this, which would be more appropriate.
It would help if I took these math courses in high school, never going to college, so not going to take it there.
Thank you very much.

In fact, we are all having trouble with surface integrals. One of my classmates ended up taking the last integral with respect to pi, which, suffice it to say, did not produce the right answer.
Do you guys remember related rates? Those took me a long time to figure out. I generally can do them now, but I am not as comfortable with them than I am with other things.
