Wow they're flying fast! :eek: In 7 minutes they went nearly 150 miles. Jeez!

Not a lot of wind so far, but they are still away from the storm.

They didn't go 150 miles in 7 minutes. Here are my goofy calculations.

150/7= 21.43 miles per minute.
1 mile / minute = 60 miles per hour
21.43*60 = 1285.8 miles per hour

Which is really really unlikely. Or I'm dumber with math than I figured.

I'm guesting that that the plane can go about 500 mph. Its a airforce plane normally really fast.

It is built more for endurance than speed.

This page (http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/ ... -specs.htm)
says 350 mph, which sounds about right.

Its a WC-130....four engine turboprop. Typically around 300MPH when cruising to a storm.
