Tides rising east of Mississippi River in La.

#1 Postby TSmith274 » Mon Jul 04, 2005 11:25 pm

Well, I've been at my camp at the mouth of the Mississippi River all weekend, and heard nothing of this storm. Just been fishing and no TV. Anyway, this evening, I headed out to do some evening speck fishing. I was going to catch the outgoing tide... perfect for speck fishing. Got out there at high tide and waited, and waited, and waited. No outgoing tide. I was trying to figure this out, so I went back to the camp, turned on the TV, and whoala... there it was, a depression, soon to be Cindy. The wind was gusty, but the tides stayed high. Id imagine that they'll only go up from here. Just wanted to share my twilight zone that I was in this afternoon. It ruined the fishing, but I'm sure glad I watched TV. I was supposed to go out again tomorrow.

The tide was down in Saint Louis Bay (on the Bay St. Louis side) this evening...low enough that errant fireworks could go out quite a bit before flaming out without hitting water. ;) It was also unseasonably cool this evening with a stiff breeze.
