Ask yourself a simple question...

#1 Postby Steve » Mon Jul 04, 2005 8:02 pm

Do you base your arguments on your location? Let's face it folks, it's epidemic around these parts that where people live often determines what model runs, trends, etc. they like. I've only viewed about 15 threads today (maybe 200 or 300 posts) and if I didn't see 30 posts where the poster didn't even need to put their location up, then I didn't see any. If we want people to take us seriously, let's be serious and unbiased as much as possible. It lends a lot of creedence to what you have to say ;).

The only way a hurricane is gonna hit here is if Texas, Louisiana, and Arkansas fall off into the Gulf of Mexico. ;)

I live in Lafitte, LA which is roughly 25 miles from the GOM, with a lot of open water between here and there. Bayou is up now, and will come over the bank on wednesday, no doubt. That means the highway will be covered by water too.

No... okay maybe. Alright... I admit it.

Actually I don't want a freaking parade like last year. Frances, Ivan, and Jeanne all within 3 weeks was enough!

Looking at TD 3 and TD 4 it looks like we may have another parade and it's only July.

Yes. It's people like me that cause discussions here to inevitably become arguments over whether or not the remnants of every tropical system will hit Vermont's Champlain Valley ;-)

Yep, but you have an ocean. We've got a lake. Not a lot of 'canes develop on Lake Champlain. Though "Hurricane Huron" always gives me hope :D

Seriously now, I come by my hurricane interest from a) having an EM background and b) having lived in the mid-Atlantic region and "meeting" Bertha in 1996 and c) having relatives who still live in that part of the country.

I live in New Orleans. Most of the people I know never want a hurricane to hit our city. It would be a total mess. 1.4million people live and work here, raise families here...so, no I don't want a hurricane that would mean months of cleanup, and that's before you get to fix your own property. Hell, I have a camp in Venice, near the mouth of the river. We just built it this Winter. So, I don't EVER want a hurricane to come my way. But that doesn't mean that I am not facinated by them and that I don't like to predict and study where one might go. If one does head my way, I promise you won't see any smiley faces on my posts.

Nah. Not me. I'm actually a little biased towards thinking systems that look like they're headin for Texas will actually veer east and hit the N GOM ... or get go into the Yucatan or N Mexico...

Of course, if N Mexico gets a strong system, it might eventually wind up over my house, but I figure chances are slim.

Nope, mainly because I am pretty convinced Texas will never get a storm again. But I like to get ALL the opinions because you never know what these storms are really going to do.

I don't think there's any amount of -removed- that could bring a storm to me. the only 'cat' storm I'll get here is related to how PO'd the feline gets :) .....but i'm totally hooked on tropical weather systems
