Seems like the NHC agrees with the majority of us here, they regard Dennis as the bigger threat.

Is not fair, even that Dennis may become a major menace in the near future, for now Cindy is the one possed to make landfall in less than 24 hours.

While that is obviously true, I think the bottom line with Cindy is that they have an excellent handle on what she is and what she's gonna do. One cautionary note is that the Vipir model (which surprsingly or not, had the Plaquemines+Mississippi hits with Cindy) did show some tightening during secondary landfall in coastal Mississippi. I'd keep that in mind if I was there. But we have buoys and other observation prospects with Cindy. NOAA needs to get recon into Dennis so they can start feeding in model data.

THat really bites,
here we have a real TS about to make landfall and they cancel the mission and schedule a mission for a storm that will not affect the CONUS for days.
THis IMO is a clear lapse in judgement. A mod to strong TS off the cost of US should be more important than a storm a week away.
Rant Over,
I'll get of my soapbox now,

Ok so tommorow then. BTW, why are people upset that there's no recon for Cindy tommorow. It will be inland tommorow.

They will rely on surface observations and sat estimates.

Cindy wont get much stronger, there not really much a recon flightr will tell us IMO. With her I fgure the worst case scenerio will be for it to reach cat 1 and still not be much of a problem.

Dennis has the potential to be a major hurricane and I think they are making the right call focusing their attention and $$$ on him.

There should be recon for Cindy rather than Dennis. Cindy poses the immediate threat to landfall. It's doesn't matter which going to be stronger in the future. Yes, there are buoys out there, but a plane is always better. I hope this is not true.

Cat 1 is a problem if you are expecting a weak TS...
