TORNADO WARNING
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NEW ORLEANS LA
100 PM CDT TUE JUL 5 2005

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NEW ORLEANS HAS ISSUED A

* TORNADO WARNING FOR...
PLAQUEMINES PARISH IN SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA

* UNTIL 130 PM CDT

* AT 1254 PM CDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A
SEVERE THUNDERSTORM CAPABLE OF PRODUCING A TORNADO 15 MILES
SOUTHEAST OF VENICE...OR ABOUT 41 MILES SOUTHEAST OF PORT
SULPHUR...MOVING NORTHWEST AT 20 MPH.

HEAVY RAINFALL MAY OBSCURE THIS TORNADO. TAKE COVER NOW! IF YOU WAIT
TO SEE OR HEAR IT COMING...IT MAY BE TOO LATE TO GET TO A SAFE PLACE.

SEEK SHELTER ON THE LOWEST FLOOR OF THE BUILDING IN AN INTERIOR
HALLWAY OR ROOM SUCH AS A CLOSET. STAY AWAY FROM WINDOWS.

IF IN MOBILE HOMES OR VEHICLES...EVACUATE THEM AND GET INSIDE A
SUBSTANTIAL SHELTER. IF NO SHELTER IS AVAILABLE...LIE FLAT IN THE
NEAREST DITCH OR OTHER LOW SPOT AND COVER YOUR HEAD WITH YOUR HANDS.

Local met just said TS Cindy expected to pass directly over St Bernard Parish, and yes that's me.
Could possibly be minimal hurricane.

I really think Cindy might make it to a minimal cat 1.

TS winds inland, but cat 1 winds on the coastline and open waters.

I'm ok with a minimal hurricane, now if Cindy was a Cat 3 or more I would have something to worry about it.

I dont think it will be a hurricane, just a 70 mph TS

Local mets here are saying possibility of a minimal cane at landfall.

Well, looks like cindy is a different breed of storm than Arlene was! :eek: Stay safe over there in LA! Time to batten down our hatches a bit over here, too, I think.
