Question concerning bandwidth

#1 Postby Downdraft » Tue Jul 05, 2005 2:53 pm

Last year we almost crashed because of everyone posting graphics or text when they simply could have posted the link. I've noticed the same thing happening this year. Wouldn't we save a lot of room if people just posted the links to data or graphics rather than cut and pasting it into the thread?

Posting graphics inline doesn't cost storm2k any more bandwidth than posting a link does, because the graphic itself is still hosted wherever it is, and your browser generates the request to that location as it parses the html delivered by the board.
