DEVESTATION!

#1 Postby wx247 » Mon May 05, 2003 11:38 pm

Hello everyone. Words can not describe what has happened here. I want to thank you so much for your concern. As it stands right now...5 are dead in Pierce City, 8 missing... in Monett 3 are dead and 4 are unaccounted for. I knew three of the dead, but since not all of the family has been notified I do not feel at liberty to release their names. The tornado hit 1/4 mile from my house and 1/2 mile from my mothers.

I saw the tornado go through! It was the biggest blackest cloud I have ever seen and I could do nothing to stop it. I am at my grandparent's house now because they just got electricity. My house still doesn't.

The damage is incomprehensible! I am willing to bet the tornado was an F4. I have been out all day helping friends clean up. There have been a lot of tears, but I am glad that we survived.

I don't know how long the power will stay on and how much I will be able to post and there is more trouble on the horizon. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers. Ya'll are the best!

Garrett

Garrett, I praise God that you and your family are "ok", if you can be in a situation like this. Prayers are streaming to the man for comfort for you and your family and friends in this time of need, and for those who did not make it and their families also.

Wow, Garrett! That's right, we are all very worried about you and glad to hear from you. :) I got goosebumps reading your post especially and then CanjunMama's, David's and Joshua's. :o

As soon as those reports from southwestern Missouri came through many of us knew that you were right in one of the worse hit areas. Hope for the best with the next round of weather.

What a terrifying and tragic experience for you and your community. I can't even comprehend what it must be like. And a monster tornado 1/4 mile from your house. 1/4 mile is nothing! A short walk. :o
I pray for those who lost their lives and all those affected by this outbreak. Take care Garrett!

I take it that you do have a home to go to when the electricity comes back on. I'm sorry to hear about your friends, but we are all happy to see that you are back and safe!

Garrett,

I am glad you and your family are ok. I went through my hometown last year after it was devastated by a tornado (La Plata, Maryland, last April) It was heart-wrenching, so I know what is going on inside of you right now.

Well I found out this morning that even though my grandparents have power, they really don't. The city has hauled in generators to power the city where no lines are damaged. But with my house being so close to the destruction we may not have electricity for days. I went over this morning and cleaned out the fridge and freezer.

I'm so glad to see that you made it through that, Garrett!
I told one of my co-workers how our Storm2K family
was worried over "our missing Garrett"! You stay safe,
and, keep your family safe. You're all in our prayers!

Garrett, it's so good to see you posting here today...keep us informed of everything, and glad that you are safe and sound ...

I'm experiencing to a lesser degree the same kind of problem, though not as widespread ...
