I knew there was a reason my sinuses and joints were beginning to throb.

City Park/Bayou St. John vicinity...winds beginning to pick up and rain intensifying from steady to heavier in bursts. We've had 5 power interruptions in the last 20 minutes. Just deep flickers, but I wouldn't be surprised to spend the night in complete dark come midnight or so.

All downhill from here, fellow New Orleanians!

Uptown NOLA: getting rainy and wind is picking up. I just heard one of those freight-train-like roars of wind going through the trees and down the street when I went to my front door. Just put batteries in two lanterns, just in case! The local FOX station took a power hit around 9 pm.

Yeah, somehow I enjoyed the yellow glow more than the blue glow when the power went out. And thanks to Steve, we're all now thinking that we should have stocked up on Abita (Amber tho).

Very windy. Gusts I am guessing are getting close to Tropical Storm force. Center is going right over Grand Isle. Not much rain though. Just some drizzle. Us here in Terrebonne Parish are on the very western edge of Cindy. Most of it will stay to our east.

Things are indeed picking up here in Gretna at this point.7400 customers out of power in Plaq. Parish just reported.I havent had any flickers yet,but if the wind picks up much more,it wont be long now.

Raining buckets and wind is absolutly rocking, taking down a few small branches.

Very rainy and windy in New Orleans East. Got off of work at about 9:10 Central time. Just in time to drive through a squall. I avoided the high rise in route home. Looking out my window I can see wind blown rain moving roof top to roof top. Guessing I'm getting some Tropical Storm gusts.

There is a report on Katc that Grande Isle has recieved 7 inches of rain and that's before the power went out.

WOW! I said it in a post this morning... look at the moisture. It doesn't llok pretty.

Rob even said he is surprised it's not a Cat. 1 as it's wrapped up very nicely over the last few hours. 99mph gusts on an offshore bouy.

That's a nasty storm!

Sustained 30mph winds with gusts to 45mph...nothing too bad. Lights flickered really bad once and my computer went off, but, I'm obviously OK now...

Gusting to near tropical storm force in Houma. Not too much rain though. I'm in charge of cellular towers in SE La. Right now I have 14 sites without power, but all of them are on emergency generator back up.

Storming in Metairie as it has been for about 2 hours. Wow. This is more than I thought we'd get. I just finished watching Fox 8 and they marveled about how Cindy didn't (so far) take the forecasted track. They see her slowing down and kind of nosing up more northward. Bob ran a very long radar loop and was fairly convincing. He's upped water potential here from 2-4" to 5-8". Looks like it's gonna be a longer night than I thought. Time to pop another cold one.

FWIW, the mayor of Grand Isle reported SE winds in the last few minutes so obviously the storm isn't east of there.
