I MUCH prefer John Gumm and David Bernard at WWL. I moved to Baton Rouge and can't watch them anymore, but I always keep up with the WWL weather forum. David Bernard will be greatly missed but he will be Miami's gain!

Thats what NHC is calling for so thats not a surprise. (at least if you extrapolate their latest forecast)

Bruce is good, but I think he jumped the gun just a little. N.O. mets walk a thin line between being informative and causing panic.

It just a good time to get prepared. Don't panic. Prepare for the worse and hope for the best. Nobody on the whole gulf coast is out the woods. New Orleans has dodged every direct major hurricane hit since Betsy. Luck might of lasted 40 years. But, it won't last forever. I have a strong feeling that this may be Louisiana's year.

Preps in Louisiana are not HYPE. Many people do not realize the extreme danger involved with a cane of any size impacting SE Louisiana. Many, Many people will not be able to get out of harms way. In NOLA there are thousands and thousands of people who have NO way to evacuate. There are people in extreme poverty so the idea of jumping in a car and leaving is simply not an option. Another thing since I am on my soap box.
So many people on this and other boards don't stop to think about the people who do not have computers. That cannot get online to check the forecast. I think that if there is any type of risk for a major cane hitting SE La. The mets should tell everyone as far in advance as possible. NOLA is deathtrap waiting to kill large numbers of humans.

no they don't and they will be the first to tell you that. This past summer the EOC, the Mayor's Office, the State Police and the Gov.'s office were all saying that they could not find a feasible way to evac. the folks without transportation. They were trying to get churches and city busses to take people out but even then they said that many would not be able to evac. I am not making this stuff up, it really happend. Oh yeah I don't need a deep breath because I not upset only stating what I see as our states utter lack of planning.

I think the UKMET and the CMC are the only two right now keeping it out of the NGOM.Does not look good for someone up this way. It's been strange that Cindy did not raise more eyebrows than she did right.I hope to God that she does tomorrow morning some and wake some people up for the possibility of something major later.

NO, they really don't and they're constantly talking about it. They have no idea how to get everyone out of the city who cannot evacuate. They talk about using the public transportation system to bus people out of the city, but they say that's no where good enough.

You know, I've been thinking about this. Since the city will fill with water, the RTA is going to want to get it's fleet of buses out of the city, I would think. So, while moving your bus fleet to higher ground, fill them with people. Seriously, this would kill two birds with one stone.

Its a good thought but I don't think there are enough busses and they all would be making one way trips. They would not go back to pick up more people.
