Cindy... what happened??

#1 Postby TSmith274 » Wed Jul 06, 2005 1:39 am

Sorry to start a new thread. Anyway, what has kept Cindy moving due north? Our local mets(in N.O.) are now saying that she made landfall more west than was predicted, and may now come directly over the city. Is the ridge steering both Cindy and Dennis a little stronger than expected? Is it nudging westward? And, what, if anything, could this mean for Dennis?

Probably a farther west track for Dennis. If it's true that Cindy slowed down some (that's what I've been reading) it won't be good news at all for SE Louisiana.

she's Tracked Only about 15 miles West of NHC's track IF that! NHC and Local Mets STILL forecasting NNE to NE turn As it Nears East N.O. NHC's Pegged this one! Only Concern I have it She Might have Been a Cane 1 @ Landfall but 70 -74 is really no Difference! Cindy is Slower than I thought and if she holds on and Gets into the Miss sound things could set up for us to get some Allison type rainfall amounts..Unlikely but?

Becuase she is lopsided it is hard to pinpoint the center. But, it does appear to be moving about 15-30 degrees.

New Orleans is in a dry air pocket, but the center will pas to the southeast.

Good observation Eric! I think The Impressive Radar Shots Earlier were not Cindy Moving West or Nw but the WEST side of the Storm was trying to get its act together and Build to the west! This went on for Several hours and has began to Die down!

Hey Eric. I agree, seems like the center is over Grand Isle. Pressure at that bouy is 29.45 Inches. That's lower than the advisory pressure. I believe it is now moving NNE.

Yeah, I hear ya. It's just that earlier today, people were saying that Cindy was going to cross "marsh" on it's way to Mississppi. Obviously, there's been a bit more of a northerly component to her. I'm just guessing that the ridge to her east is delaying her turn to the NE a little longer than expected. Just wondering if I'm correct in assuming that. And, if I am, would this have a bearing on the track of Dennis since the only question with Dennis is where the ridge to his north is. Sorry to be so confusing. Anyone follow? I know it's late.

Either way If she COntinues N-NE she Will be over the Rigolets and BACK into Water Soon! Its a ?Of what will be Left of her core That I'm Wondering?

More than likey, when the convection tried to get better established on the West side it caused the Center to wobble a little towards the convection and it is probally the reason why it has slown down. Trying to consolidate better.

Hey mobile how's it going over there?

It appears that you had some bad squals but should be on the outter edge of the rest of them.

Here is a pic of the storm from my radar program. (Gibson Ridge)

The yellow cross hairs is approximately near the center of circulation.
The Red dot in the open area is New Orleans...

And Mobile i am sure you know where you are. ;)

There is a large area of strong convection with cells moving at over 55 knots headed toward your area. Depending where you live in mobile, and how fast the storm moves, vs. how fast the cells are moving north you could get some great kite flying weather! ;)

   . NWS Mobile just issued A Flash Flood warning for Mobile County. I'm in Eastern Mobile County, Eric. Gusting in the 30's now and increasing! I'm at work and they have a Weather Station. :slime:

Thats great... i wish i could show you my radar loops. There is one cell building south of you that will be heading over the eastern section of Mobile that is traveling at over 65 knots. So your winds are going to kick up a lot.
