South LA Hurricane Special
Please forgive the shameless plug in the midst of all of this real activity, but I just wanted to let everyone out there in south Louisiana and SW Mississippi know that our annual hurricane special -- The 5th Season -- will be airing tonight (Wednesday) at 6:30. Here's a brief look at the stories we'll be running:
1. Jay Grymes takes a look back at the 2004 season and trends since 1995.
2. Diane Deaton has more on our new contraflow plan and also phased evacuations.
3. Scott Oswalt talks about Louisiana's lack of a statewide building code.
4. I'll have 2 pieces: the first will be a look back at Betsy 40 years later and some great survivor interviews; the second will be about a chlorine barge that sunk in the Mississippi River during Betsy that forced a large evacuation of Baton Rouge.
Ironically, the air time and date have nothing to do with the ongoing tropical activity. In fact, this has been on the books for probably 2 months now.
Tune in tonight at 6:30 and let me know what you think. And one more thing...if you happen to be up early this morning, you can catch a preview of my interview with one of the Betsy survivors from St. Bernard Parish on our morning show.

Great to have you aboard. I live in Orlando now, but born and raised in BR, some family is still there. I assume Mike Graham retired. Did you take his place? Have to admit that I've not visited Dad in a while but your name is not familiar. I've seen the other mets, though. I lived there from '66-'89. We could count on Mike Graham. He was always serious and never unnecessarily hyped anything.

otown --
Mike Graham actually retired a little more than 2 years ago...beginning a chain reaction of events that allowed me to come to BTR. Jay Grymes -- who was doing weekends at the time -- is now our Chief and I've filled the spot left by Jay. It's been great to be back home in LA after spending 2 1/2 years in South Carolina.

Welcome to storm2k!
I am a weather fanatic.. great to see a local (ahhh Baton Rouge close enough) on the boards. I like Jay Grimes. I tend to watch Rob Perillo on KATC over anyone else, but I do catch Jay Grymes as well. I'm not a big fan of KLFY (CBS Lafayette). I have more Hurricane expierence than the whole team combined. They're all from out of state.
