Track is very close through 72 hours, but I've shifted a touch left after 72 hours, because I'm really banking on UKMET to pick this up soon. Once UKMET stops shifting, I'll think we'll have a good estimate of a US landfall. For now, this forecast is a blend of UKMET and GFDL after 96 hours. Everybody keep alert; I think we may have a good idea by lunchtime tomorrow. I've brought down the intensity a touch, but keep a strong hurricane in the northern GOM.
Now if RECON reports 65kts winds at the surface, I guess I'll adjust the initial intensity. I set this as a tropical storm for this forecast, but note the intensity jump in the initial 12 hours.
Back to work... :)

Good write up But I feel everyone in the GOM should monitor this system closely not just east texas to the panhandle  especially the keys, they will be first to feel it's effects.

I agree. If this storm stays as large, it will affect a large area including areas not in primary path. I am not totally sold on central GOM impact point.
